The view was wonderful, and we enjoyed our beach walk.
We did learn the hard way that the lighthouse itself is not a historical one, but the current in use one and this not open to the public to go into. However, just viewing the lighthouse was beautiful.
We (myself and my husband) also met the current lighthouse dog. We have a question and don't actually know how else to ask so we will ask here.
The lighthouse dog looks like our dog, and we have never seen a dog that looks so similar. Does anyone know more about Sula the lighthouse dog?

The lighthouse is well maintained and picturesque but the gates are locked and you can only view from a distance. There are no information plaques either to give information on history and function.
For the island a real opportunity missed as it seems to have many visitors and there were similar mumblings from family members

A picturesque old lighthouse on Cape Mudge.. we hiked the beach from Tsa-Kwa-Luten Lodge to visit the lighthouse... it is about a 20 minute walk along the beach... interesting to see what appears to be the old fog horn and the newer installation...worth a look when on Quadra Island..

It is a typical BC lighthouse and important on our coast, but not much to see, actually, as you can't enter the grounds. This one, unlike some others, appears to be "manned", as it looks like someone lives in the house. Appears very well-maintained. Nice parade of boats and barges going by and an impressive view of the Campbell River shoreline across Discovery Passage. Beach out front for a picnic or short walk.

A manned working lighthouse. Similar in style to the one in west van. Well maintained. Keeping us safe.

The lighthouse wasn’t our destination for visiting Quadra Island, but rather an RV park nearby. My family and I went to check it out to find it all fenced off and not accessible as it an active lighthouse still in operation. It was neat to see. Nonetheless because when we returned to main island we spotted it from faraway to use as a landmark. Not much to see overall though.

Grundsätzlich ein schöner Leutturm. Mann kann ihn nur von aussen betrachten. Ist eingezäunt... Was weiter nicht schlimm ist

The property is fenced in so all you can do is get some nice pictures. I didn't notice any tours being offered. If you love Lighthouses, it's worth the trip to see it.

I love lighthouses so this was a must for me as we were staying at the nearby Tsa-Kwa Luten lodge. Rather than walking to it, as my husband has mobility issues, we drove to it. There is ample parking and a walking trail for those interested.

You can drive right to it, or walk from Tsa-Kwa-Luten lodge, and can take in the extra mile or so of sea-side walk to Cape Mudge village, a pleasant and interesting First Nations community with a good museum.

Is it possible to bike there from the ferry, and if so how difficult is the ride, will have young kids with us and don't want anything too strenuous

It is 9.2km from the Quathiaski ferry to the lighthouse, then turn around and go back. Probably a bit much for young children. We drove it and I do remember that it had hilly sections.
