I visited the Wilkinson Homestead and was pleasantly surprised at the artifacts and history of the exhibit. The artifacts are in very good condition and a few of the agricultural exhibits are interactive For me, it was like taking a step back in time and seeing how different and more difficult life was in the early 1900s. What surprised me most was how the layout of the house, the furnishings, the appliances and even the smell took me back to my childhood in my grandmother's house in Louisiana. So I really like it because of the nostalgia.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is no entry fee but a donation based on the size of your group is suggested and a box is provided. The museum provides tours for schools and it also provides tours for the public on the weekends. I would call ahead to make sure the museum is open and conducting tours before making the drive because the museum has irregular hours.

I visited Wilkinson Homestead in Gosnells recently and was delighted with the atmosphere. It is situated on the banks of the Canning River on Homestead Road in Gosnells. The museum collection is housed in Wilkinson Homestead which is celebrating its Centenery in 1912.
The collection includes textiles, agricultural machinery, domestic equipment, furniture, historic photographs and paintings significant to local history and a collection of vintage machnery. The museum conducts education programs for schools to highlight life as it was in the early 1900's.
It was nice to walk amongst the grounds of the museum, with its shady trees, orange orchard and many birds of local significance. Adjacent is the John Okey Davis Park, which is a dog friendly park, also on the banks fo the Canning River.
If you have the time and energy, there is a map for the walk or drive tour along the river to Maddington House and through the suburb of Maddington where there are many landmarks.
