We stayed at the lodge and everyone was great! From Bell Hops, to front desk to the servers and bar tenders everyone was very nice and always helpful. Our room was clean and spacious, the pool was nice and all the food we ate therefore good!! Will come back for sure!!

Went to try and do some fishing. This is a beautiful resort, if you want to stay here, camp, boat, play golf, and other items that cost a lot. We just wanted to fish. All the accessible places to fish were off limits due to the other activities. If you are just looking for a nice state park to hang out at, this probably isn’t the one for you.

Went there last year had a blast. Pool was very hot and AWSOME to swim outdoors. We went this year have to say a little different. The pool was not so hot just warm. My kids were cold. There were loud noises near our room. And please don’t take any pool towels the pool nazi will chase you down to get them. I was trying to keep my kids warm from the cold pool and the lobby is freezing when you come out of the pool. Other than that we had a good time.

We just stopped by to check it out with some friends. What a neat place this is and it was decorated for Christmas. Would like to come back and stay a few nights or longer.

I still love Briarpoint Campground at Stonewall. They have cut back on services but charge more. If you are camping during the Hunting and Fishing show - even if you don't attend they have started charging $10 more a day. No newspaper delivery and wifi is spotty. What I am most upset over is - you have to ask for AAA, AARP, and WV senior discount at time of reservations or you will not get it. They can not ask if you have any discounts. Its all about the money...........

A very good experience. We had a cottage that was great for a family getaway. Having the kayak at the cottage was very nice. The staff were professional, polite and helpful. The setting was beautiful. We recommend this resort.

If you can get past the hooplah of reservations, this is a phenomenal place to visit. Payment in full is required upon booking and you will NOT receive an email confirmation...”we don’t do that.” So write down and KEEP the reservation number you are given. You WILL need it as they could not find our reservation with my name.
One of our friends reserved a 50 amp site and got a 30 amp. Several campers played musical sites around us...still haven’t figured that out. Speaking with another camper he said they come every year and this was the first time the check-in procedure was at the store and not the guard shack, so I’m wondering if this change has affected the reservation side of things??
On the bright side, the staff has been very nice and apologetic to our trials.
The campground itself is very nice. It’s located in the state park property. Sites are paved with a gravel patio and a nice fire ring with the grill option.
For $15/day (for 4 people) you can walk the boardwalk over to the Stonewall Resort and use their pool, hot tub, and take a river cruise. Another option for activities is $15 per person per day to use kayaks, canoes, paddle boards and fishing equipment.
You may also bring your own boat or jet ski and beach it at the campground for your convenience.
Despite the reservation issues we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to come back again. We stayed on site 39. Looking across the road from us is site 3 and the lake.

Campground is beautiful, I had lot 12,nearly a hundred feet long with 50 amp service and nice view of the lake. Problem, I have a 45 foot class A with air leveling an could not level the coach, because or the slope.

They have great food and pool, hot tubs (indoor and outdoor). The Steam room and Sauna are separate since they are located in the ladies and men's changing areas...With the smores package you can sit by the outdoor fire pit and relax. Met lots of great people...Very casual atmosphere...Then went indoors to the lobby area which was huge and comfortable to relax and chat and get warm. Some of the other guests were surprised to learn that this lodge is dog friendly (we had our little cocker spaniel). All of the service was GREAT!! from food to room to check-in/out, the pool guy was so helpful...everyone was so accommodating ..Would do it again in a heartbeat!

We go here when they have special events. They host a great hunting and fishing show each year. I try to attend every chance I get. Beautiful area.

Are their hybrid bike trails in the park?
What is the relationship with Stonewall Jackson and this Area?

Honorary. No direct connection to the actual park lands, but he was born downstream in Clarksburg, WV, and then when his mother got sick, went to live with his uncle, who owned a gristmill on the West Fork River, even closer downstream, or several miles downstream of the Stonewall Jackson Dam, just north of Weston, which is now named Jackson's Mill. He bounced between Clarksburg and Jackson's mill a bit growing up, as did his sister. His sister became a staunch unionist and spent most of her life in Harrison County.
Can you use lizards to fish with

You can use about anything to fish with, but it depends somewhat on what kind of fish you're trying to catch. Lizards eat the eggs of some fish so the fish have adapted to eating lizards to save their own eggs and progeny.
