The gift shop has nice things. However it's $8 to fish with 1 pole. Then the teenage boy tried to tell my husband he HAD to staple a ticket on his person. We're from WV and that just doesn't sound right. He could've put it in his wallet and took it out if he was asked about it. My husband had him staple it to his fishing bag and the boy had an attitude about it.

This was a nice pier with a good size store that carried everything you would need. It was not overly crowded, and saw quite a few reeled in.

Fished here for 3 days and facilities are very good. Pier not as long as some we have been on but great. Bait and tackle and gift shop that is very big. All the staff inside were incredable to work with. They aimed to please. Prices to fish were very good also. Didnt catch a lot of fish but had a great time.

I took a 12 year old foster child to the beach for her first time . I became disabled as a police officer making entrance to a domestic situation in an apartment. I have a physical assistance dog (German Sheppard ) she has a service dog vest and all her vacation tags with a photo ID of her with all her information. I was refused entrance even after I told them she was not just a pet but assisted me in walking and assisted if I fell . I was then told we’ve had these dealings before No Dogs ... I’m not sure if they discriminate against me being a disabled Police officer , service Dogs or Both .... I’ve been coming to Kure beach since I was a young man that’s why I decided to show my foster child what a great place it was but we were refused service at two motels and the pier .. I will never return to a city that shows discrimination of the disabled.

You have to walk through the store to get on the pier. It is free, and a nice walk to the end. Saw several pelicans and had fun watching the fisherman.

Great pier. Just wished we could have fished. Wind was over 30 knots! Sea was beautiful and rough! Looking forward to going back.

Kure Beach is beautiful but the only attraction is this pier. No shops, a few restaurants. You gotta like to fish to hang out here. Beautiful homes line this stretch of beach in NC.

Kure Beach was great. The fishing pier was free to walk on and watch the anglers from a distance.
The beach was clean, ocean surf was very relaxing.
A great bonus is that parking was free and plentiful, unlike Wrightsville Beach which charges $5 per hour.

I love that this pier is free to just walk on. We have school age kids and they just want to walk down and back. Be aware, serious fishermen use this pier and it can be crowded. Watch out for hooks on poles being cast!

Very well maintained pier, long and safe. Benches are on both sides, lights and plenty of extras. Bait and gift shop. Parking can be a bit of an adventure, but available. The staff is helpful and friendly. Only allows one fishing rod per person, all day fee.

Closes in november. Opens back in april.
Beware of rules and laws that force you to rent expensive hotels. Also after season beware. There are NO Bathrooms open for the public.

The pier is still standing...but a small portion of the railing is gone on one side, and quite a large portion of railing gone on the other side. It is now in the process of being repaired. There are rumors going around that it will be finished by this weekend. Hopefully, those rumors are true.

They have some things like that at the pier but you will be better served at a big box store before you get on the island. The pier shop has cool trinkets and souvenirs and fishing stuff
Do you rent rods and reels? Planning a trip in October and flying in, so can't bring own equipment

Yes...you can rent all the necessary equipment...rod, reels, etc from the shop. The shop has control over the pier so everyone has to pas through it to get to the pier. Good luck!
