I found the people running this to be rude and certainly not customer friendly. My granddaughter fainted and we couldn’t go. When I called to reschedule because of the no refund policy I was told no w/e’s now. So I said I would reschedule in the spring. I was then told I would have to pay whatever increase would be in affect. I find this unfair and I said so. The snide response was it’s for charity. Perhaps they should practice what they preach. I was told I cancelled. It was mutual she looked right at me and said she can’t go now. Not that I would have taken her at that time. Sounds mutual to me. I would recommend any other horse park in Gettysburg than this one! They have a lot to learn about good customer service! At least I got a tax deduction. Think hard before you book with them.

The horses are rescue horses and are very well trained for riding. I like the fact that I am supporting their rescue by paying the fees for the ride/tour. The battlefield guide was superlative. His descriptions painted a picture of the battle. You could see and smell it in your mind. I do wish we could have gotten closer to the monuments (probably prohibited), and that the tour could have been more of a circle rather than turning around and retracing our steps. With that said, I would do this again and I would recommend it to friends.

Thank you to Terri and the staff at Gettysburg National Riding Stables. Convenient location, but more importantly a knowledgeable, talented and helpful staff of wranglers. Your staff made our park tour a success, thanks ! Highly recommended

Went on a 2-hour ride-tour with a licensed battlefield guide. I am well-versed in Gettysburg and the Civil War and would preferred to ride more, as we stopped several times for 10-15 minutes each time as the guide explained the events as they happened during the battle. My wife did enjoy the information and how it was presented. Seeing the battlefield from horseback is so unique, and helps you to 'see' it from the perspective of the officers as they led their men forward.

Terry and her staff were so friendly and patient , we are beginners. Beautiful horses and trails. Dawn was a great guide for us! I believe this is under new management/ownership. Just to be aware of some reviews from the past on here. Would definitely recommend this to all!

Six of us brought our horses for the weekend and booked corrals. Ask to have a corral close to your cabin/campsite and one with some shade. Our corrals were a decent walk from our trailers and the few hoses in the corral area so we did a lot of totting hay and water. Also most of the corrals have no shade and on a hot day not too nice for the horses.Bring your own muck bucket with cart. You have to remove the manure at the end of your stay and dump it in a manure spreader, Great except the wheelbarrows provided are in poor shape and don't roll well. The riding is great if you are a walker. My friends like to move out and there are very few places for a good gallop. One of the most enjoyable aspects of this campground is meeting all the horse people and their horses.

We always stay here because of the friendly and very helpful Staff here. We have stayed here since 2010. The campground is close to everything that goes on in Gettysburg.
The riding stables and battlefield tours are an added bonus.
The ONLY bad part is not everyone keeps there dogs on leashes as required. Wen have a little dog and not all dogs are little dog friendly.
Other than that WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CAMPGROUND.

I took my 8-year-old with me because she loves horses. We had an awesome time! Horses were well behaved (for horses). We still had to make sure they didn't bite the horse in front of us or try to go around the horses in front of us. But it wasn't an issue. My daughter had never been on a horse before and she had no problem controlling her horse. They show you a video ahead of time, explaining how to steer your horse. We had an awesome guide who was very knowledgeable about the battlefield. You could ask questions and she would answer them. You where a headpiece so you can hear what the guide is saying the whole time. They did tell us that if the guide was sick and did not show up, they would use a tape recording. If we had had a tape-recording, it would not have had the same impact as the guide.
I appreciated the fact that they had wranglers all around us. If somebody had a problem, they were quick to react to it. My saddle was slipping because my horse's back was rounded. It wasn't a huge deal but the wrangler helped me get the saddle back in the middle of the horse's back while we were moving. My daughter had a hard time keeping her headphones on (only because she refused to put them on under her helmet). The wranglers were there to help her. I had my headphones on under my helmet and I could hear everything perfectly fine. Adults are not required to wear a helmet.
The tour was two hours. One hour one way and then you turn around and come back the same way. But you get a different perspective each way. Someone posted that they don't stop to take pictures. This is true; however, the horses are going slow enough that you can easily take photos. But it's an open battlefield - there really isn't anything to take a photo of. It's more of a history lesson.
For my first horseback riding tour, I thought this was a great experience!

Even with the video, the ride was worth the views and interaction. Daughter had a great time although she had to wear a helmet, but now understands why. Even a stop for the wranglers to take your photo. We'll be back, and maybe to camp too!
