Be aware that the bulk of the collection, the fascinating and informative "Paths of Life: American Indians of the Southwest" has been closed since 2020. A very limited group of interesting artifacts is displayed but not in their cultural context. A good exhibit of pottery is available, sorted by cultures. Even if you follow the signs from the handicapped parking spots to the closest entrance, that entrance is not open to visitors. Visitors with physical limitations should be dropped off and picked up in front of the main entrance on University Ave; the driver then needs to find parking which is problematic mid-day during the week.

Small museum with only three main areas -- pottery, basket making and jewelry -- on one floor. Was expecting more to tell the story of Arizona.

A few rooms of baskets and pottery and that's about it for $8 admission. For me, that amounted to $2/minute.

In depth look at paleoindian 'crafts' to the present. The beauty and skill put into necessary items from pottery to baskets.

We went because the museum is the home of the States premier pottery and photographic collections, but what you see is extremely limited. To begin with photographic collections are by appointment only on limited days, which is not obvious when you are arranging a visit! The pottery exhibit is one small room with a very small display of pottery - stunning pieces but so limited! Adjoining this room is restoration area and the storage vaults which give you a tantalising glimpse of what the museum has but you cannot see! A small exhibit of baskets that is good.
So disappointing as we based our Tucson visit on this museum as it is touted as Arizona's best historical museum.
Also, be warned finding the museum is not easy as driving around the university is a maze and parking a nightmare.
Not worth a visit.

Beautifully curated collections. Not a huge place, but excellent examples of pots and baskets from permanent works. Serapes was especially interesting.

An Excellent museum both in quality of displays and new facilities. Reasonably priced admission. A pleasure to visit😎

I had never seen so many baskets from everywhere possible.

I didn't knew that baskets can be different from another country.

There were so many baskets from everywhere.

They also showed how people lived with baskets and more. All about Baskets.

There were also some stories as well with the baskets.

Worthwhile to see!

The Arizona State Museum changes often and we can learn quite a lot. It is not expensive.

We went to see: American Treasures of Native Basketry and Fiber Art.

It was amazing. I had never seen so much baskets and fiber art. It was beautiful.

They showed all the basketry in different places in US.

There were so many to learn, it took us at least 3 hours.

I was not attractive to baskets, but it was so good, we stayed here for along time.

I will put a few pictures. There is way more and amazing!

A must see!

Located on the University of Arizona Campus near the Main Gate. A large section of the Museum (Paths of Life) traces the history of 10 indigenous peoples who lived in Arizona and Sonora, Mexico including the Tohono O'odham and Pascua Yaqui tribes which are still present in Pima County. The highlight of the Museum for me was the outstanding collections of Native American pottery & baskets. ASM has over 20,000 baskets and over 20,000 pottery items. Only a small fraction are on display -- the rest are in climate controlled vaults. Non-flash photography is allowed. There is no snack bar/cafe, but there is a very nice gift shop where you can buy authentic Native American art & crafts. Definitely worth a visit!
