Exceptional experience. The scenery can only be described as spectacular on the flight to Milford Sound with Air Milford. And the cruise is equally stunning. We had great weather and lots of waterfalls. The commentary from both the pilot onboard and on the cruise was excellent.

excellent day from the collection at our hotel to the flight over the most incredible scenic alps into Milford sound.
Professional pilot Antony worked his magic and made the day extra special for us with incredible detail and insight .

This experience with Milford Air and cruise was amazing and would highly recommend it. Both Alex our pilot and Tom the other pilot were very informative, helpful and felt safe in the aircraft. A must do when in New Zealand

What a incredible day .
My uncle and I took a half day trip via plane and boat and where flown by captain Antony sproull who explained and shared his abundant knowledge about the magnificent glaciers and surrounding areas.

This is probably the BEST holiday activity we have ever done! Flying conditions were perfect and we had AMAZING views all the way to and from Milford Sound, as well as the two hour cruise down the fjord. We even had a pod of dolphins leaping around us. Professional and informative service from Oz. It was just sensational. We we blown away by this trip.

Great service! Collected from our hotel at 8 am, taken to the airport where we met Thomo our pilot. Fantastic flight by Milford Air with great commentary by Thomo. Smooth landing and an amazing cruise around Milford Sound (weather was beautiful so we were very lucky). My husband got to sit up front with Thomo on the way back, which was an added bonus. Overall, it was just a great trip.

I have no comparison to make with any other outfitter, but the flights with Air Milford New Zealand from Queenstown to Milford Sound could not have been more perfect. The flight operation is a family run business. Our pilot to Milford Sound was Oz and our pilot back to Queenstown was Antony Sproull, the operations manager and one of the owners.
The day began with a topographic map in a hangar and a briefing of the flight plan given by one of the three pilots flying today. Knowing there would be three planes leaving in tandem from the same outfitter provided a certain degree of security and safety.
Both pilots actively pointed out the various sites that we passed. When possible, the pilots zig zagged to allow passengers on both sides a glimpse of the sites. Oz flew close to, but safely above the two snow capped peaks on either side of our plane that literally took my breath away. There was appropriate commentary whenever the pilots were not actively piloting or communicating with the tower. The flights were smooth. When there was just the slightest, barely noticeable turbulence on the way back, Antony got on the PA to explain that this was customary later in the day as a result of the ground heat. This reinforced what Oz, our pilot that morning had already told us, to expect a bump or two on the flight back. To be honest, this wasn’t even necessary given how slight the turbulence was, but showed how much the pilots wanted to make sure everyone would have an enjoyable time.
The two hour cruise by Southern Destinations was very good. It seems that most of the air services uses this company. Milford Sound, which we learned from Oz is actually a fjord, was beautiful.
This tour is definitely worth the cost and the day. The cruise was excellent, but the the tour by plane provided by the pilots of Air Milford New Zealand was unforgettable. I highly recommend using this outfitter to fly to Milford Sound. They get too marks from me and my family.

The service provided by Air Milford was seamless and professional from start to finish. Our pilot for the flight, Tom, seemed a real expert and we knew immediately we were in safe hands. All in all, the service we received reflected value for money and I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone visiting the South Island!

Hi there,
We are very interested to book this trip with you on 12/28. We will be staying in Queenstown from 12/26-12/29, and I checked on Tripadvisor that 12/28 is the only spot available for 2 people. This date is fine with us.
Before we book the ticket though, could you please tell us how long the airplane rides are (to and back) and how long the cruise ride would be, please?

Our flight was booked in for the 10th oct , it was cancelled due to bad weather , they offered a full refund or to fly the next fine day which was oct 12 my birthday , we had the best weather , blue sky and nice warm sunshine

It's in the same area as the normal airport, maybe 10 minutes walk from the terminal? I suppose it depends how much luggage you've got. The only thing to consider is that they ask you to call a few hours before, to check the scenic flight is operating (weather issues sometimes). So I guess you could do that from Auckland.

It was $666 for two of us, USD, for the flight and cruise in Milford Sound, Air Milford was fabulous and I highly recommend them. I think our pilot was Mike. This was the highlight of the whole trip to Australia and NZ and worth the splurge, but it was a little bit terrifying going over the jagged mountains and felt very close (but was totally safe).

the plane is quite small - sits 8-10 people. There were a couple of small children on my flight, but perhaps not as young as 1. Depends if they are used to sitting on an aeroplane for a couple of hours - there is no space to walk around.
