With our tour guide Gloria and driver Victoria we headed out of the port terminal at 8:00 am on Dec 22, 2018. At our first pee stop along Lake Llanquihue, the second largest lake in Chile we were able to pictures of Llamas.
We stopped a couple of times alongside the Petrohue River for photo opportunities, especially of the Volcano Osorno - the Fujiyama of South America. Then we stopped at Esmerelda Lake – Chile’s Lake Louise. We took a few more pictures and watched two eagles go into a tree close to us. We also saw two other active volcanoes – Tronador & Puntiagudo
One of the tours actually took the tram up the side of the Osorno volcano and saw ice craters as this was one of the few days you could see anything (Your Mom really wanted to do that). We each paid $6 to see the Petrohue Falls. They were nothing special.
We stopped at the Verde Laguana. It was a green pool of water. I took a picture of a big rainbow trout near the water’s surface
On the way back we stopped in Puerto Varas which was settled by the Germans. Besides Bavarian shapes they had colorful homes. We stopped at their downtown square for a 40 minute walk-around. Our guide said she takes her Mom and 8 year old son to the Cassis restaurant for their ice cream. When we walked inside two of the assistant cruise directors, Gabi and Veronika, were just paying their bill. We ordered carmello flan ice cream and a cake with a 7 minute meringue icing (looked like toasted marshmallows). The freshness and taste were outstanding.
Our last stop was the fish market (Angelmo Market) in Puerto Montt. It was also a vegetable market. We watched a vendor feed salmon leftovers to the sea lions.

This was supposed to be a full day tour of the Falls, chairlift to Volcano if weather permitted which was a beautiful day, and lunch at off the beaten path away from tourist. Went to falls but stayed way too long. Then walked around Puerto Vartas for way too long. Very disappointed. Tour guide Vicky was good. Would not recommend this tour. Jaime Liebrecht did not hold up to what was advertised and what we paid for.

sorry for your bad experience but it was out of my control because the person who hire this tour did not continue and not come as tour leader and was no one who can handle that on board and inform the real tour who was hired. Any way partial refund was done just to demonstrate my good will.

I travelled with my husband and 2 adult daughters on an NCL cruise from Santiago to Buenos Aires and having been on a previous tour to Machu Picchu with Jaime and PatagonaiShorex we had no hesitation in booking his services again. He is exceptionally efficient, responding to emails promptly and clearly and all the details he outlined plus more were implemented on the day of the tour.
We did a number of tours and without doubt this was the BEST tour we undertook on this trip to South America. Jaime was waiting for us when we disembarked, he had an efficient driver and he gave us a lot of relevant information about the area as well as taking us to fantastic viewing areas before the crowds arrived, interesting walks and a unique local restaurant in a chef's home, among a host of other stops. We had a fabulous day and felt very tired, happy and positive about the Petrohue Falls area when we returned at the pre-determined time to the ship.
Thank you very much Jaime for a wonderful day. You are a superb guide and tour operator.

We spent two full days with Jaime in the Lake District around Puerto Varas. In advance of our trip, Jaime was very easy to communicate with and ensured that he put together an itinerary that covered all the places we wanted to visit.
Jaime has tremendous knowledge of the region, its history, its geology, its flora and fauna. More than that he lives in Puerto Varas and knows everything and everyone and so was able to provide plenty of recommendations for where to visit. He has a great sense of humour and we had lots of fun as well as learning lots about the area. Because he is so knowledgeable he arranged our days to take the best advantage of the weather so that we had the most spectacular visits to Osorno, Petrohue Falls and Lago Todos Los Santos.

We worked with Jamie for a couple of private tours that we purchased for our South America cruise over NYE 2019. Jamie is an excellent salesman who knows the region very well and he made us very comfortable throughout the booking process even though his prices are definitely higher than other operators. We ultimately bought 1 shared and 2 private tours for our family of 3 from his company. When we got on the tours, we realized that none of them were ran by his company but he was just a broker reselling other company tours to us. Two of the tours we had were ok but the private one we had in Puerto Montt as truly awful. Our guide had a broken down car that we didn’t feel safe in and he wasted time taking us to locations that were not on the advertised tour so we missed out on seeing the some of the real attractions. We concluded that we probably got the worst guide/ tour company from Jamie because we were only a small group and it was a busy time of the year where he assigned better guides to bigger private tours. We were so disappointed because Puerto Montt is a beautiful place and we didn’t get to see all the highlights despite spending a premium on this tour,
In summary, if you are a small group of 3-5 looking for private tours, look elsewhere as you might end up with Jamie’s left over tours even when you are paying a premium. You can probably book all of the vendors he uses directly and for much less.

I had used Patagonia Shorex to arrange some tours from a cruise ship 6 years ago. Since the tours were all good, we decided to use them again on this cruise. Jaime always responded quickly to emails and was easy to communicate with. We were most surprised that Jaime met us as at the port in Buenos Aires as we know he lives in Chile. Our full-day city tour was led by Adriana. She spoke good English and was very mindful of the hot temperatures so she did most of her explanations of sights while sitting in the air-conditioned bus. She also made sure that we made stops to purchase water and use washrooms. The van was comfortable and equipped with both air-conditioning and a microphone. We saw many of the districts of Buenos Aires and visited the major attractions like the Casa Rosada, Metropolitan Cathedral, El Ateneo bookstore, Rose Garden, large mechanical flower, Recoleta Cemetery and La Boca. It was wonderful for us to see many of the sights that we had missed on our previous visit to BA. For lunch, we were dropped off at the beautiful Galeria Pacifico for free time and shopping. At the end of the day, we were dropped off at the cruise port. Thanks for a great day!

This tour was arranged for two. Jaime met us right off our ship and off we went. He ensured we stayed ahead of the large tour groups so we could enjoy all our stops. His knowledge of the local area and customs were great. He was a very safe driver, as well. We really had a lovely day visiting the falls and the volcano as well as time to stroll and shop before heading back to port.

This was one of the best excursions we've ever taken. Jaime had told us to be among the first off the ship, and we were. He whisked us to the Falls ahead of all the other tours. The Parque was wonderful, and we were overwhelmed with the beauty of the Falls and surrounding areas. Jaime kept up a good pace, designed to fit our needs. He had a wealth of information. We then went on to visit Puerto Vargas and Puerto Montt. We even stopped for lunch together (our cost) at a lovely private restaurant. Jaime got us back to the port in plenty of time, so we were never nervous. A perfect day!

This was an independent shore excursion at our last sea port before we become land-locked again so were hoping for some nice weather. We chose this company based on reviews we had read in a travel blog and on tripadvisor. We were anxious to see some of Chile's most beautiful volcanoes. The weather started out very cloudy. Our fantastic guide for the day Adrian told us not to worry though because the days always started that way but would clear off as the day progressed. Adrian taught us soooo much! Puerto Montt's main industry is aquaculture and is second only to Norway in production of farmed salmon. They also produce a great deal of shellfish. So, we were thrilled when Adrian's first stop was to see the famous Angelmo fish market. Maybe not for people who don't like fish smells first thing in the morning, but we love to check out local markets. The market was amazing, having so many types of locally caught fish and shellfish (ever hear of Chilean sea bass?). There were probably a hundred little stands in this market. Above the market were a near equal number of little restaurants ready to serve up the fresh fish and shellfish. The market also sold all types of ham, sausages, and local cheeses and spices. And, they were making fresh empanadas (the South American equivalent to fast food) on site. The worst part was that we had just eaten breakfast and we were prohibited from taking any kind of food back to the ship so we couldn't buy anything!
Our next stops involved searching for good views of Osorno volcano as it was still cloudy. We stopped along the way to look at little church. It was one of the first churches the settlers of the area built. As we left, Adrian told us he said a prayer that the skies would clear. Prayers answered. The skies began to clear. We were delighted to have increasingly beautiful views of the volcano. The best ones were over Lake Llanquihue and a couple of those stops included llamas. Lake Llanquihue is the 2nd largest lake in Chile (over 330 square miles). We were also able to see three other volcanoes at various points along the way, one being an active volcano having a ruptured as recently as 2015.
Our next stop was Petrohue Falls - not the same as Iguazu Falls in Argentina, but still so beautiful with emerald green waters everywhere. We also drove through two beautiful towns - Ensenada (a beautiful Resort town) and Puerto Varas (also known as the city of roses). Both areas were on the lake and so pretty

Overall this was a fantastic and well organized trip to visit Machu Picchu. Jaime at Patagonia Shorex was always extremely prompt in his replies to email. All of the tour guides were very knowledgeable and we had a wonderful time.
There was a minor hiccup as we were not able to leave our large luggage in Lima as was previously discussed and had to take it with us to Cusco. However, this did not end up being a major issue as our bags were handled efficiently most of the time.
To no fault of anyone (except Mother Nature) our trip to Machu Picchu started on a bad note when our flight to Cusco could not land due to bad weather and had to turn around and go back to Lima. 6 or 7 flights were cancelled that day and it was a huge mess at the airport. Fortunately for us our guide Carlo was traveling with us to Cusco and really helped navigate the Lima airport. He helped us get rebooked for a flight the next day and get a hotel and meals from the airline. It would have been a much more stressful event had it not been for Carlo and something we will never forget.
The rest of our trip went off without a hitch (except for some altitude sickness on our last day in Cusco). Even though we missed a day in Cusco, the remainder of the trip was wonderful. We now understand when people say photographs do not do Machu Picchu justice.
