The Art Gallery of Bancroft not only has excellent exhibitions, their gift boutique has hundreds of amazing items made by local artists.

We had a delightful visit and thoroughly enjoyed looking at works by talented local artist. We picked up a small print that will remind us of our trip to Bancroft. Next time we're there we'll make sure to drop in again.

Drop in and you may find what you are seeking. For me, it is nature's art that moves me. It could be a an old beaver meadow between two white pine and white birch ridges in the forest, and yes, I have an original water colour of just such a scene painted by Gary Chapman of Haliburton. When I saw it in the Gallery, I knew that as a place I had seen in Cashel Twp SE of Bancroft, ON. It moved me then and it still moves me now!

The AGB is just one example of arts thriving in and around Bancroft. (even in tiny Maynooth). The former logging/mining town & county is now a refuge for artists of all places. Be sure to include the Arts PLace by the river/bridge, a bohemian mashup where everybody seems to know each other -- as friends. A great little espresso bar in there and lots of art everywhere (it also has working studios). A lot of artists and artisans and performers fled urbanity for this town. A surprising number of performances: just ask around what's up. I would suggest you park and walk and explore,and you will soon discover a Community.
Bancroft is also the home of the Gnome movement: activists who wear pointy red hats like garden gnomes and demonstrate against gov't excesses -- like the way they allow corporations like Canadian Tire, Shoppers Drug Mart, Sobey's and Walmart to not only not pay their property taxes, but get past years and years of taxes paid back by struggling towns like Bancroft (see the provincil MCAP loopholes_

Calming gallery showcasing many beautiful pieces of art from very talented local artists. Jewelry pieces were also stunning. Very friendly people. I definitely recommend that you visit if you are in the Bancroft area!

I was in town for a few days and stopped by this great local gallery. I enjoyed the art on display very much. I ended up visiting the local gallery of one of the local artists I first saw here and bought two of her paintings !

Although this is a gallery, there are many works of art to buy: paintings, jewelry, pottery. The works appear to be done by local artists. There is an area that holds touring or special art shows. The person staffing the gallery was funny and welcoming. Washrooms are available. Donations are welcome.

This gallery is the perfect way to spend a half hour looking a variety of beautiful art. It's located right in the center of Bancroft and is the perfect place to pick up a gift for someone.

Want to spend an enjoyable 30 or 45 minutes? Don't leave Bancroft without popping in to this very small but very pleasant gallery. We loved the variety of paintings on display. For a small gallery in a small town, the pieces on exhibit are regularly changed. What made it even more enjoyable was the woman working there -- sorry, didn't pick up on her name -- but she was so clearly interested in the paintings and intrigued by the artists and their work. The one piece we really liked had sold but the curator/clerk offered to give us the artist's contact info and encouraged us to seek her out ourselves (which we did, online). We're not art enthusiasts by any stretch but enjoyed our time here.
