It's on the hidden gem list
oct. de 2021
It's on the hidden gems list. For an Abbey it's well-preserved. Don't think I've ever visited an Abbey where a timber roof exists in any building but it does here.

Plenty of information boards provide explanation and overview of the site.

We were fortunate that the sun came out late afternoon during our visit, which made for some good photography.

All of the above and it's free. What's not to like.

Beautiful ruins, free! Must see
sep. de 2021 • Pareja
Adored wandering round these beautiful ruins. It’s been partially repaired, and is neatly kept with some descriptive notices with pertinent information. Absolutely fascinating from the trio of giant kitchen fireplaces to barely remaining carvings, gargoyles, painted floor tiles, statues and wooden panelled Tudor ceilings. Absolutely worth a visit. And FREE

Peaceful Place
ago. de 2021
Interesting ruins with great views ( those monks knew where to build a good abbey!). It was very quiet with just one other family there. As a FREE attraction, this was a great place to visit.

Lovely walk
jul. de 2021 • Pareja
We went to Haughmond Abbey for a walk on a Monday morning, in the sunshine it was lovely to do the woodland walk nearby the abbey and then take in the views of the ruins. The walk is around 4km so good for any ages and fitness levels.

History plus views on a sunny day
jun. de 2021
- Walked up from the Corbett Arms in nearby Uffington – 30 minute walk though woodland – alternatively there is a small car park next to the Abbey – site unmanned – explanations given via very good information boards – 12 century Augustinian monastery – although within sight of Shrewsbury nevertheless it must have been isolated at that time – some of the structures remain intact and along with the evidence of foundations you can get an impression of the scale of the complex that was destroyed during the dissolution of the monasteries during the reign of Henry 8th in 1539 – on a sunny day it is a pleasant place to explore by all ages and admire the long views across the Shropshire countryside to the Welsh mountains – thank you

Interesting ruins to visit
jun. de 2021
After a lovely dog walk on Haughmond Hill we visited the ruins. They are free to visit and interesting to see. There are information boards over the site which let you know a bit more about what you are looking at. Good for a short visit.

Lovely site
feb. de 2021 • Familia
Haven’t been here since you had to pay to get in. It’s now free. Several spots for parking.

Lovely place and lots of good spots/angles for photography. Well worth a visit. Can get busy pretty quickly so recommend getting there for when it opens.

There’s a nearby walk through the fields too which was lovely and added to the trip so that it wasn’t just a quick 15 mins look around.

Gorgeous old ruin off the beaten track
ago. de 2020
Visited here as part of a photographic day out. Luckily I was able to park right by the Abbey, (there is a small free car park, with enough room for approx 7 cars). The ruins are very well kept and free of litter/graffiti - another bonus of it being out in the sticks. There is a private house on the grounds by the entrance, so I assume the occupant keeps and eye out for unruly behaviour - but please respect their privacy.

There are plenty of ruins to look around over a fairly large area - the Abbey must have been quite a sight when complete, (thanks Henry)! The only covered area is a large room towards the far side of the site, which houses an ancient stone font. This looks like something from Arthurian legend and is very photogenic.

Perfect for picnics, as said earlier, the site is quite large and there's plenty of space for picnic - just try and have them outside of the ruins, and not ruin the view for other visitors. As with all the sites, there are more and more woke millenial "parents" letting their children climb on the walls. As it's always somebody elses fault these days, when their little darling falls.
