Great day out with very knowledgeable host!
sep. de 2021 • Pareja
We visited the vineyard today for the wine tasting and tour, we had a lovely day learning all about the wine making process. Wine tasting was great and generous and the wine itself is genuinely really good. Martin is an amazing host and tells lots of stories of his family business from over the years. Lunch was lovely too. A great and interesting day out, would recommend!

Great vineyard tour and wine tasting
sep. de 2021 • Pareja
Very enjoyable tour of the vineyard with an entertaining host. The owner explained how his father started the vineyard, what was involved in establishing it, how the grapes are tended and grown, and how the wines are produced. Being a family concern, the explanations involved what he, his father and family members had learnt. It was all very interesting and instructive. The same can also be said of the wine tasting afterwards, which ended with a very tasty cold lunch of pie and salad. We'll worth the money.

Nice wine

Not far from the Roman town, worth the short drive. The vineyard is small and could do with a bit of work. Martin the owner is pleasant and knowledge able, you get to taste before you buy. We had a walk around the vines, which was pleasant.

Great introduction to winemaking in the UK
jul. de 2021
Martin facilitated a great day, interjected with anecdotes, on the local history and why the area is suitable for vines. The facilities are to be expected from a working 'farm' - not a lot of spit and polish - but the talk through of the processes involved, from the initial planning of the vineyard to present day and production, was great. The food , a locally produced turkey and ham pie, was full of flavor.
Overall a very pleasant 4 hours.

Underwhelming, not worth the price and a long day!

Some elements of this tour were enjoyable but overall it was not the experience we had hoped for. Much of the experience is hosted within a tired looking school hall which is in much need of some TLC. The tour of the vineyard consists of walking up towards to see the vines whilst the host regals stories of his family. These stories are very long winded and the content is dated.
The rest of the experience is sat within the hut next to the car park.
Martin, the host, is very knowledgeable and certainly knows his stuff however he talks at such a fast speed it's hard to actually capture what he is saying. Much of the content is irrelevant to the actual tour and lots of "funny" family stories which never seem to end.
The lunch was dire, cold, fatty, cheap pie and some sad looking salad. It was inedible and we had to go and eat a late lunch in town after.
The wine itself was nice but it would have been nice to learn more about the wines and the process.
There are mixed reviews on Trip Advisor about this tour and we wish we'd seen the 1 / 2 star reviews, especially as many of the reviews date back to 2014 with the same feedback as ours. We will not be going back.

A very informative enjoyable tour from a family run vineyard. We learnt a lot, the selection of 5 wines to taste were good and the lunch of cold pie was very good indeed. The owner, Martin was full of excellent anecdotes, stories and facts

Visit with friends

We have just visited the vineyard for a tour and afternoon tea. What an absolute gem. Martin is so knowledgeable about the business and makes the tour extremely interesting. The wine was delicious and you definitely get plenty of samples. Afternoon tea served by Amanda and the girls was plentiful. Wines all excellent and the shop well stocked with so bargains. Would definitely recommend.

I booked this for my fiancé for Valentine’s Day however it was worth the wait!
Had no expectations but this was fantastic
Warm friendly welcome, tea and coffee on arrival
Martin the owner did our tour and his passion and knowledge of this family run business draws you in - this is wine made with love and care and you can taste it!
The setting is beautiful - the Roman city a great introduction to the drive in
The views are lovely !
Martin takes you through the whole history and process - educational and fascinating
The waste tasting was second to none - not stuffy, but helping you to appreciate the role and challenges of a wine maker
We tasted 5 wines - whites, rose and red
I’ll let you experience it and make your minds up on which you like!
This is followed by lunch - I had a gluten free option which was tasty plus another glass of wine - a different one, tea and coffee
Afterwards we purchased a glass of wine to wander the shop with and choose some of our favourites to take home
A fabulous day and highly recommended for any wine lovers whilst also supporting a small family run business
Outstanding and organised for COVID too

Great English wine

We were early to visit the nearby Roman site and the staff there suggested we go visit here. As we like wine we thought why not?! Tours are available and one was underway when we got there but we were welcomed into the shop. Plenty of wine and beer in stock and the staff were more than happy to offer advice and tastings. We came away with plenty to drink!
Staff very friendly and helpful and we were pleased we found this little gem.

Just walked in by off chance

Popped by to have a look around. Had a nice chat with the owner about wines. plus a impromptu wine tasting. In the end, we brought 5 very nice bottles of various wines. Well worth doing a tour around this well established vineyard. One of Shropshire hidden secrets. They do gift vouchers too.
