Was mir sehr gegen den Strich ging:

Great for what it is
sep. de 2019
This museum only offers short-term exhibits with specific focuses (usually the work of a particular artist, or artwork with a certain theme). For us locals, it's awesome, because it's possible to go to the museum over and over again and have a different experience every time. Even though it's not Munich or Vienna, past exhibitions have featured the work of Egon Schiele, Marc Chagall, Gustav Klimt, Joseph Beuys, Käthe Kollwitz, Keith Haring, Oskar Kokoschka, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Yoko Ono, Yves Klein, Otto Dix, Henri Matisse - lots of big names. (Topics have included video art, artwork depicting St. John Nepomuk, artwork depicting the Bavarian Forest, and the Russian avant garde.)

Admission is currently €6 for adults and €4 reduced price, but it's also possible to buy an annual ticket that's also valid at the modern art museum in Salzburg. The museum does a lot of projects with local schools and offers pedagogical workshops for teachers, so they can include artwork in the classroom more. (I've also taken my university classes there a few times.) Recently, the museum has also offered lots of extras, including yoga in the museum, different readings, and special tours.

It's not the Pinakotheken or Louvre or something like that, but it's great for what it is.

A small museum with little variety
jun. de 2016 • Pareja
We were attracted by a poster depicting a painting by Hermann Stenner. An artist that died young in WW I and looked like he was from the Fauve school of painters. Most if the works shown though were black and white graphics and the colorful paintings we had expected were few and far between. Other than this small exhibition there were a larger number of litographs by the Austrian artist Carry Hauser and some items from R. Schatz. Both were rather mostly depressing worker scences. That was it. We left a bit disappointed as the entrance fee is fairly high for a small place (€6 adults/€4 students). So make sure to carefully study what is on exhibit when you are there. Whatever is advertised is going to be it. There is nothing extra, such as a permanent collection. There is a small cafe' on the premises that offers a lunch selection that you can price according to your own judgment. Recommended only if there is an artist on exhibit that you really like.

Thought provoking

The artists on display were very deep I thought and one in particular was only 24 when he died in the war so his pictures reflected this. My son (19) really enjoyed the visit

A Wonderful Surprise in Passau
oct. de 2015 • Pareja
Whilst on a Danube Cruise we stopped in Passau. We decided to visit this Art Gallery and were pleasantly surprised to find a Goya Exhibition of 230 his prints. Not much English is spoken and we only received a list of the prints in English as we left.
However along with the Glass Museum it is a little gem in Passau.
