A visit or a one-time purchase might give you some good impression but don’t let that fool you. He offered us a two weeks workshop that we can learn about dyeing, pattern-making, and traditional weaving, food and accommodations included . We agreed on that terms and he just didn’t make the schedule for us and spent most of his time on other appointments. It started getting fishy a few days in and after that we ran out of patience. So we spoke up for half the price refund which he returned 5000 baht from 25000 baht we had paid without learning anything substantial and stayed with him less than half of the appointed days. The storefront looked good but the accommodation was very dirty. Last but not least, he even had us run some errands and buy food for him.

Found this store a few years back, just as I was finishing my time in Chiang Mai on holiday. Bought a lovely blue flat cap. Came back this trip and met the lovely owner/ designer. A very talented artist who is passionate about natural and traditional methods of dying cotton (and the pieces he designs and makes). I wanted a darker could of the cap I bought and he made me one to order (it was dyed with ebony). It was still drying when I bought it. Very friendly and interesting man. Well worth a visit. A lot of work and talent has gone into his pieces, unlike the mass produced stuff in the markets. This place would be especially interesting for those who have skin sensitivities or allergies to commercial colourings etc or people who are interested in natural fibres and colours. . Well worth a trip. Will definitely come again. We also bought some printed material to take to be made into a table cloth. Go have a look and chat with the owner.
