Shrouk Mamdouh, my guide for this tour, was very knowledgeable about Ancient Egypt's history. Her English was clear and perfect. Her explanation about the pyramids, the Tombs, the sphinx, the temples and Egypt's history was to the point and did not leave much unanswered. She was open to questions and discussions about Ancient Egypt, Islam and Egypt's current affairs. She was very vocal and passionate about protecting the environment, animal welfare and female empowerment/ gender equality. Even more surprising, she was our guide during Ramadan. So even though it was summer and the temperature was hitting a high of 40+ degrees Celsius, she did not eat and did not drink from sunrise to sunset. Clearly, she was dedicated to her work as a guide and at the same time, devoted to her religious beliefs.
I definitely and strongly recommend her as a guide for Cairo and or Egypt.
If you do book a tour with her, don't forget to ask her about the local food. She can advise and recommend regarding vegetarian options Also, don't forget to learn a few Arabic words from her. She can advise you regarding a few useful ones when dealing with street traders (for example - la shukraan).
ʾIn shāʾ Allāh,I will ve her as a guide again next time I am in Egypt.
