Highly recommendation for those who are the natural lovers. TMT provided us to hike up to the stunning high mountain with 360* panoramic scenery. Our highlight was to visit the hilltribe (Black Lahu) where we can experience their lifestyles and cultural traditions. One of the important things to make our wonderful tour with TMT was their tour guide (Pui). She was knowledgeable, hospitality and funny.

We were recommended Tour Merng Tai before arriving in Mae Hong Son and they were absolutely brilliant. As it was our first time in Mae Hong Son we weren't familiar with the landscape or local areas of interest and Tour Merng Tai gave us an itinerary perfectly suited to our interests. They have a huge respect for the local people and wildlife and this was clear in their enthusiasm and the way they described the environment. We only had one day but were able to visit places of natural interest and came away with wonderful memories of Mae Hong Son.
Tour Merng Tai have a range of possible itineraries to cater for wildlife tours and visits to local communities, depending on your interests, however they are happy to discuss alternative routes and were very accommodating. We would love to go back to Mae Hong Son and would definitely contact these lovely tour guides again in the future.

Mae Hong Son is a great destination to experience local life in ethnic minority villages, where many people still live close to nature and continue practicing traditional livelihoods, festivals and ceremonies.
I have traveled with Tour Merng Tai several times, and have always been impressed by their sincere respect for the villagers who they work with. Khun Tung and Praew, who run Tour Merng Tai, have worked very hard, supporting community members to develop 'community based tourism' programs.
The couple spend weeks at at time in the villages, helping to train villagers in areas like 'homestay' and 'local guiding.' When guests arrive in the Lahu, Karen, and Thai Yai (Shan) villages where Tour Merng Tai operate their tours, you are warmly welcomed and introduced to the local culture and ways of life by the local community members themselves. The tour guides from Tour Merng Tai help to translate.
Visitors have time to meet and discuss with your village hosts. You can explore the forest with local guides, who have deep knowledge about edible forest foods, medicines, animals, local legends, etc. You can also join in simple activities like cooking, weaving or having a go playing a local instrument.
You will also enjoy the warm hospitality, and simple, tasty food of the 'hiilltribe' people, feeling confident that the villagers have chosen which aspects of their lives they feel proud and comfortable to share with guests. So, if you would like to do something more than just trekking in the forest, and would really like to meet and learn from the local people, traveling with Tour Merng Tai will not disappoint you.
