This ranks as one of the better Art Museums I have been at and I have been at a lot. The parking lot was very large, the park setting was nice for a change not battling the city to get there. Very reasonable in price, 12 adult 10 senior. You are greeted in the lobby and pay in the gift shop. Very clean museum with benches to sit and look at the painting. All types are represented. Don't miss the Children's section, great even without kids. All the elements of design, color, shape, scale, line and texture are shown. Loved the big yellow duck. The gift shop had art, jewelry, and something unusual for gifts.

This is a beautiful facility in a nice park setting. Art collection is just ok, nothing distinctive. Nice they have activities for kids.

In some senses, this is an excellent piece of museum architecture in search of a collection. Or perhaps it is a valued community resource and art center that just happens to have a collection. It is not, however, a serious competitor to (for example) the likes of New Orleans Museum of Art, or even St. Petersburg, FL. That said, it is an agreeable stop for the afternoon when you've flown in an other things close at 4. This closes at 5 and you can do it in an hour, hour and a half.

Loved the unique collections here. We spent a couple of hours enjoying this place. They had some cool modern architectural pieces. Art through the ages. Loved the chairs collection!

I visited the Mobile Museum of Art yesterday. First, this museum is much larger than I imagined. I was pleasantly surprised to find a Gordon Parks exhibit of pictures taken in Southern Alabama of a black family's journey through segregation. They also had a huge mural of a timeline starting in 1900 until 202 of significant events in the struggle for racial equality in Alabama with emphasis on local Mobile events. I was impressed at how inclusive the art was with African and African-American art, Asian art and Native American art. There was modern art in various mediums including wood, pottery and glass, as well as art and artifacts from bygone eras. There is a children's section that I did not get a chance to see as it is by appointment only (probably because of Covid-19) as I believe it may be more interactive. The museum itself sits in a very scenic area across from Mobile Municipal Park on a lake and it has a modern sculpture garden. It is a very relaxing atmosphere as you can walk down by the lake. But beware I know the park has signs "Beware of Alligator" so since it's the same lake I would use caution. There were several people walking along the lake and I'm not sure ow long that sign has been there or if the alligator is still there. But that won't affect you going into the museum.

While on a two day visit to Mobile we thought we'd go to the Municiple Park and saw this museum and decided to give it a try. Many interesting exhibits, separated by areas of the world, and a section on life/segregation in the 50's in Mobile. We spent about 2 hours there and thought it worth the cost and time spent.

Museum sits in a park and was enjoyable to visit. We arrived late in the afternoon and we believe we were the only visitors to the museum. Actually that is a shame because the contents of the museum are well worth a visit. The moving Gordon Parks photography exhibit on life in Mobile in the 50’s and 60’s was worth the visit.. Expect to stay at least an hour to see the museum’s contents.

Excellent Facility, Art, Staff, Exhibits. As we are moving to Mobile soon, we even bought annual passes. Especially enjoyed the Gordon Parks and Chair Exhibits.
Will return soon.

A nice building on nice grounds. First we walked along the river- wildlife on one side and sculpture on the other side. Then we went in and greeted by helpful staff. Collections are small but well defined. I’m not sure I enjoyed all their displays that were only numbers and then you had to look for a sheet that explains the numbered items. It was tiresome. Museum gift shop was unique because it was mostly selling the artwork of local artists.
