My friend just realized that they were Mennonite so we decided we should learn more about Mennonite culture, what a perfect place to go to then Mennonite village. Everyone who works there performs at an educational level to insight, inspire the visitor about the history and migration of Mennonites to this area, they have a beautiful windmill there, which is great for doing selfies, it was busy the day we were there so we did not take photos. There is a great restaurant. I think the best snack there is the rhubarb pie, but there’s lots on the menu, even for the picking at heart. thank you to the wonderful employees for your kindness and going above and beyond

Having exposure to OH & PA Dutch/Swiss Mennonite communities, we looked forward to visiting this heritage village. After paying C$12 each for 2 seniors, we saw the excellent museum with exhibits, photos and detailed descriptions of the 16th C Mennonite migration from Ukraine to the Americas.
The weather was perfect to walk the 300m Main Street following the numbered guide map to visit the collection of 19th C buildings, each outfitted with period furnishings, tools and antiques; housebarns, schools, meeting house, store, skilled workshops, an animal barn and a huge windmill. We also admired the collections of well tended flower gardens and trees among the grassy landscape.
At noon, we joined the lunchtime queue at The Livery for goulash and rhubarb dessert.
The 9:30AM to 1PM made a perfect educational visit.

Toured this location on our Canada wide driving trip, and actually spoke to some folks from New Brunswick who had also stopped to tour the site.
Each room/ building had lots to offer and see and the authenticity of all the items made it that much mire pleasant. Although some of the food offering were nit open for the season as yet we still enjoyed this stop and would recommend visiting as it is worth your time.
Make sure to drop in to the quilt making room.

This was an educational and very interesting spot to spend a few hours. I knew literally nothing about the Mennonites before my visit. It was an eye-opening account of their life and history, while strolling through the village recreated as it had been.

Living in Manitoba I have heard so much about this museum and never had a chance to visit until now. Steinbach's phrase is "It's worth the trip" and this museum definitely delivers.

Beyond the large modern entrance facility the village is accurately set up along a main Street. The commercial buildings are all well maintained, and well interpreted. There are volunteers selling local artisan items in the general store, I volunteer in the blacksmith shop and a very well-stocked restaurant right in the middle of the museum. I suggest coming in the morning to be the museum, eating lunch on site and then continuing in the afternoon.

The homes / farm buildings are very well set up, including live animals which is fantastic! There are many volunteers keeping this organization moving forward.

The iconic windmill is very interesting, but there is also a section of the Berlin Wall and a memorial imported from Russia.

If you've never been to this museum, it's definitely worth the trip!

We went on this particular day because it was a9 beautiful day outside. We had company with us as well as the gentleman that we were with on our business trip decided to go and have some time out and relaxation. The beautiful windmill out front was really gorgeous only problem was is that not many things were open during the daytime and yet there was the month of June. We love to go back when things are open but not so busy as well as the weather was fantastic.

This is a great place to step back in time, learn about history and enjoy some great food.
There is lots of parking, on a busy day you may have to park in the grass parking area. The paved parking lot is reserved on busy days for seniors and those needing the closer parking.
The admission line is relatively quick...if paying by cash the line is really fast, using debit or credit and it takes a bit longer as there is only one line for the this

The various buildings throughout the property have signs explaining them as well as some people dressed in the traditional attire to help by giving you information.

At certain times there are demonstrations that you can observe and help you learn: blacksmiths, the sawmill, horse with plows and seeding etc.

For kids there are other options like pony rides and a petting zoo.

The food onsite is really good. The main dining area can get fairly long lines at meal time, so be prepared. It wasn't the best organized as the line is inside and goes across the dining area...many people were waiting outside thinking they were in line until peaking inside only to find out the line was much longer inside. The line does move relatively quickly and once you get to the food it is a quick process. You can come and gain access to just the restaurant for free if you are not planning on viewing the rest of the village.

Plan for about 2 hours here in order to see everything and have time to eat. There are about 15 different buildings to see. They are quite spread out and require a fair bit of walking.

The experience brings you back into the past. The buildings and grounds are well kept and the touring map gives you lots of information. If you require more information, the staff and volunteers will gladly assist. A great time for all.

Walked around for an hour or so, interesting enough to keep you occupied. The windmill was quite impressive.
