We went to a Susan Werner concert here and all the locals..a crew of volunteers…were great! Appreciated the free parking for concertgoers.

Great venue. Not a bad seat in the house. If you stay at The Topside Inn, you will have a reserved seat.

Last evening my wife and I attended our first concert at the Boothbay Opera House. It was a solo performance by a young singer - songwriter - pianist and guitarist named Matt Nokoa.

As an international concert producer and musician myself, I was absolutely blown away by Matt Nakoa’s performance. He possesses one of the best tenor voices I’ve ever heard, his piano and guitar chops are also world class, his lyrics and melodies were captivating, insightful and fun and his stage presence was magical.

This young man is an entertainer’s entertainer!!!

And, the Boothbay Opera House is a gorgeous seasoned wooden venue with outstanding acoustics and supported by a passionate cadre of volunteers led by their amazing director Cathy Sherrill.

I still can’t get over what a talent we saw last night. It was as if Bernie Taupin and Elton John were reincarnated as one person.

We shall follow Matt’s career from here on and do our best to help to introduce him to more audiences around the world.

Bravo Boothbay Opera House….BRAVO!

My wife and I have attended several performances over the years when we make return visits to Boothbay Harbor. We have been very pleased with the quality of performances. Being in a very old building, it has some great architecture to study. Great inexpensive entertainment.

My husband and I attended 2 performances at this place and were very pleased with both, quality, etc.
the opera house is a lovely old building with wood floor and a beautiful bar area upstairs. Nice seating and a comfortable balcony seating. Wonderful way to spend an evening if you’re in the Booth Bay HARBOR area.

Review is based on the outer architecture only, viewed as I was leaving the harbor exhausted from the congestion of shops, restaurants, and sights. It's an 1894 building that's on the National Register of Historic Places and was originally a lodge for the Pythians and Masons and definitely stands out in the village.

We saw the Chris Thomas King blues concert and we had fun. He performed really well. The best part of the show is the venue and its volunteers. The venue has that Old Americana feel ran by lots of friendly volunteers.

You can't really predict what each new season of musical offerings will be. Just to name a few: traditional, pop, rock, folk, blues, jazz and many international ensembles. The cost is very modest, considering the quality of the performers. The average ticket price is $35.
It's noteworthy that this entire year-long enterprise is comprised of a core of volunteers!
Typically at each show desserts are a available as well as a bar with beers, drinks and soda on the 3rd floor.
This is a historic building that has seen many uses over the years. It's past makes for interesting reading.
Tickets can sell out quickly, so it's wise to look a few months in advance. There is general seatng downstairs and in the wrap-around mezzanine. There is reserved seating for sponsors, donors and organizations with prior arrangements.
If the music moves you........dancing is permitted (and even encouraged)!

ENJOY!!

Attended The Hot Sardines at the Opera House -- what a show, what a great venue! It's a good thing we had reservations and arrived early to find seats (general admission) and parking. The line up of acts for the season is truly impressive. My husband and I would be going to more if we didn't live all the way up in Bar Harbor. The building has great character and wonderful acoustics. I am sure that we will be lured back in the future. If you are nearby or can add a show night in to your itinerary in the Boothbay Harbor area, go for it; you won't regret or forget it.

We saw Gaelic Storm recently and the opera house rocked. This is a beautiful old building. The seating is general admission and the place is busy! Buy your tickets in advance & get there early to go up to the terrific bar upstairs. Staff is very helpful and the venue is comfortable and a lot of fun.
