The Blue loop trail was recently improved. Biking is now more enjoyable. Many who visited the park before July 2021 may be not aware of the fact that now the Blue trail has a thick gravel coating over the old cracked and, in some parts, missing asphalt. One can reach speeds of 12-15 mph on the improved road. The park is just at the boundary of the NJ Pinelands region, and is located midway between Newark, DE and Hammonton, NJ. This makes it more accessible for those who live in Nothern DE and MD.

Made reservations to stay a weekend. Nice facility but lots of traffic. Nice trails but lots of people(it’s great to see so many of us getting out to enjoy nature but if looking for privacy you might rethink this place!) They have nice bathrooms too. Lots of birds-saw blue heron and red tailed hawk, geese and swan.

While the main trail is a circle around the Parvin Lake, there are many little trails where one can get lost and enjoy some peace and quiet. It is a beautiful park. I was there just after parks were reopening so there were no bathrooms and the campgrounds were closed. That said, it was beautiful and we enjoyed the extra serenity on the backroads that are around the lake. You can learn some history, too, as the park is part of WWII history, for good or for bad. It was built by the Civilian Conservations Corps, but also served as a P.O.W. camp. You can learn about the history on the main trains that circle the lake. Make sure to stop at the amish markets on the way out for some nice treats. Spend as little or as long as you like.

We kayaked, hiked, rode bikes, and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The cabins are big and have electricity, a small kitchen area with full-size refrigerator with freezer, stove, oven, sink and full bath. Bring your own cooking and sleeping items. Shower pressure and hot water was excellent. Bunk beds were fun. Recommend bringing egg crate pad or other sleeping mat to help with comfort. The best part about the cabins is the entire front door slides opens to a screened-in porch. Lots of airflow. Highly recommend.

Parvins State Park has been in my life since a child. Many happy memories of hiking, swimming, and bbq. The trails are usually in pretty good shape. Lots of wildlife if you keep your eyes open. Fishing canoeing kayaking biking it’s all there! But please remember if you visit,,, there are no trash receptacles,,, so no leaving garbage or doggie dropping bags for others to dispose of!!

I’ve lived near the park for more than forty years. It’s a beautiful place to visit. I’ve hiked the trails, kayaked the lake, taken my children and grandchildren for picnics there and love to go birding in the park. Rustic cabins and lots of campsites. I’ve seen Bald Eagles, Scarlet Tanagers and more birds than I can count. Haunted Hayrides in the Fall too! It’s a South Jersey must.

Great beach with warm water and a swimming area. Great for kids and families. Well equipped boating rental and a beautiful lake.
Restrooms and showers (cold water only) could be improved, though

Swimming: It is just $2 a person to get into Parvin Lake swimming area. The area private lakes are seven to ten times that. This year there are no concessions. The bathrooms/showers were not cleaned during the day. The lake swimming section was very small, smaller than previous years. It is also very shallow. I am 5'2 and the water was no higher than my chest. No floats, swimmies or toys are permitted, just cost guard approved vests, not learn to swim vests. No one can go in over their chest. There are ample amount of lifeguards. However, it is not carefree lake swimming. The small area is congested easily. My children who can swim were told not to several times. My children did enjoy playing in the sand.
We left when the lifeguards called rangers, local police and then state police on some slightly rowdy swimmers. The show of force stand off was a bit much. We did not use the playground at the lake as it was taped off. We did hike over the boat lunch. Canoeing here is easy and free (as long as you have a sticker). The lake is stocked for fishing (just need a license). They offer tent and cabin camping. We have tent camped here. It offers basics like onsite water and bathhouses (could use updating). There are three nicer playgrounds open in the campground and ample hiking paths and trails.
While the swimming lake is disappointing the state park at large is decent. There is a general store about three miles away. You can also rent a boat, but finding that entrance is a bit tricky.

We did a nice long weekend at a camp sight here. The place is very nice. Very picturesque. The lake is fantastic. Camping was good. The lone bath/rest room in our area (Jagger's Point) was in great need of a major sand blasting. The shower walls were incredibly cruddy. That's my only complaint.

I think they are, but make a phone call first
What is the condition of thundergust lake? I remember when I was swimming in the lake and my grandparents would swim from The cabin side to the old swimming area. I was told that the dam broke, and the last time I was there it wasn’t a lake it was more of a mock bath. just curious how the lake is doing today

Is there a boat launch near the cabins on Thundergust Lake? Staying at cabin 17 and wondering if I'll be able to get my kayak to the water.
We just stayed in 16 and 17 a few weekends ago. Boat launch is right out side camping entrance on Almond rd. Public and free. Fun “roughing it” trip
How much are cabin rentals? How many do they sleep?

They vary in size ,,, most rentals need to be far in advance,,and are seasonal. Go to their website page. Or call or office is still open hope that helps!

Are the bike trails paved? And what is the mileage for biking?

Yes, Parvin park has some paved bike trails very popular with families. They are in the center of the park. Best to park on Fishermen Landing and enter nearby. There are also unpaved trails like 5K around the lake trail. Once or twice a year they paint the roots there (!) orange for 5k runners "not to trip". The maps are displayed in several places in the park and on information boards. You can also obtain a map in the park headquarters at the beach entrance on Almond road.

Hello! We're renting a cabin in Parvin State park mon-fri later in october, and as we live and are flying in from the UK, will need to check in and bring everything we need with us. Would you be able to tell me what bedding/equipment we will need to bring? is it very basic (ie we'll need to bring our own pillows/sheets/towels everything! or is some stuff provided.
Any other tips!?
many thanks in advance

As above... But 10 minute drive on Landis/Rt 56 Walmart , nearby Shoprite supermarket. So instead of dragging stuff from UK consider getting locally practical cheap supplies . Travel lightly.

I've stayed in the cabins many times and don't remember seeing anything in the rules saying they are not allowed, but I'm not sure the windows are set up to have one put in - even temporarily. We never felt the need for air conditioning. the cabins are on a lake and shaded.

Will it be too cold to come during the first part of April? What do the cabins look like? Can they comfortably sleep 4 people?

Spring can be lovely with wild flowers blooming, birds singing and lots of nature at its best. Cook some real hunter's stew overy your campfire.

Hi, I would check the parks website, I also would check with local municible to see if you need any permits, yes it's possible even if it's just a simple ceremony, but the scenery will make it worth it,
Hope this helps, congratulations
We're riding through the state in a 24ft.RV and thought about stopping in for the day so the kids could get a break and swim. Would we be able to park in the regular parking lot without any issues?

Yes. Across from the beach entrance and main office of the park there is ample convenient parking lot. That is on Almond Road. You can enjoy the beach, rent a kayak or canoe. There is a small snack store. Park also has - in a different location- RV waste disposal setup. If you want to walk - a green trail from in front of the beach entrance will take you around the lake and back to the same spot.3.1 miles..
