Great little museum packed with information on the history of Wildwood, NJ
sep. de 2021
I enjoy coming to the Wildwood Historical Society. It is packed with all sorts of information on the five mile beach.

The most interesting part of the museum is the amusement displays that show all the parks and piers that have since burnt down. There are all sorts of artifacts on the parks especially "Dracula's Castle". It is interesting to look at all the rides, gifts and prizes from the old park.

There are displays of old restaurants and hotels that used to line the beach with menus, pictures and dishware from the establishments. Many of these old places as well have either gone out of business or been torn down.

The back part of the museum has displays of the local police, fire and EMS departments as well as the schools.

It is an interesting way to spend the afternoon especially if it is a rainy day.

The staff is also really nice.

One of the better museums you'll find anywhere
may. de 2021
No doubt a popular (indoor) on rainy days, "The Boyer" is worth your time even if the weather outside is perfect. More than a half dozen rooms are filled with historic photos (the binders alone contain tens of thousands), exhibits, and artifacts focus on all aspects of the history of The Wildwoods, from beach patrol to hotels/motels to boardwalk amusements to the resort's famous music scene of the 60's. The staff is always willing to assist, but also steps aside if you're looking to engage in your own self-guided tour. Best of all, admission is free- where else in Wildwood can you find something not costing a dime?

Great History of Wildwood

We decided to visit this museum since the weather was not good. There is so much to see in this museum of Wildwood, nice time and there's a video in the back to watch. Not for children they would be bored.

Don't miss this great little museum for the history of Wildwood NJ
sep. de 2019
This is the second time I have visited the Boyer Historical Museum and I find that it is interesting to visit and I learn something new when I come here. It has the history of the town since its founding and it has a little bit of everything on the town. It covers the schools, the police and fire department, the fires that the town has been experienced and the whole resort hotels and motels and amusements. Don't miss their display of the hold amusement piers and rides that used to be there.

It can be a little overwhelming to see the this museum as there is a lot to read and look at so it may take a few trips. Don't miss the restaurant section with the old menus, plate ware and signs. It really shows how the resort has changed over the years but in some cases has not changed a bit.

Make a small donation to keep this museum going as the staff works really hard to keep the place open. It has limited hours and call ahead if you are going to visit.

If you have any interest in the Wildwoods, this is a great place to stop.
Highly organized, with a helpful friendly staff. It can get a little crowded on rainy days.
Lots of items that will invoke nostalgia if you vacationed in Wildwood as a kid.

Off the beaten path but don't miss this gem by the shore

I visited Wildwood Beach for a convention recently and had read about the Wildwood Historical Society and took an early morning trip to visit the museum. It really is an interesting little museum.

The Boyer Historical Museum is a treasure trove of information on the history of the Wildwood Beaches, not just the amusements but on the schools, the police and fire departments and the whole history on the creation of the beach community.

There are all sorts of artifacts including old amusement items, old pictures, hotel and restaurant items and all sorts of records on all aspects of the three towns and their history. Don't miss the videos on the old parks and the way the town grew.

Take time to walk each of the rooms and look at all the old pictures and books that line all the walls. It can be a bit jumbled and a little overwhelming as there is so much to see but it is a nice way to spend the morning especially if it is raining.

The cost is free. Be aware though that they are open only from 9-2pm.

Lots of local history
sep. de 2018
Lots of detail and very dedicated volunteers who are very knowledgeable about the town. Especially great if you have a person, hobby or location you want to find out more about. The DVD running at the time of my visit only went back to the early 1940's but there are displays that go further back. This is a great rainy day activity. Bring quarters to feed the meters for street parking.
