A wonderful museum! Plan on spending a few hours both in the musuem and enjoying the spectacular views. The exhibits are very interesting and extrememly well done. There are subjects to interest everyone. The view from the top floor of the museum is worth the visit by itself. The staff could not have been nicer. You will want to come back. After viewing the museum, take some time to go walk the waterfront and experience what you just learned, fascinating experience.

the whole museum is very interesting and well worth a visit both for locals and visitors alike. \only problem we had was the lift was out of order and as we both have arthritis it was a struggle up and down the stairs but well worth it. Had a lovely coffee in the cafe after.

Our kids had a fabulous time here. They spent HOURS going through all the exhibits. We were so impressed by the number and quality of the interactive exhibits. We've never been to such a fascinating museum before, absolutely loved it!

We visited the museum and was amazed at the different topics that were covered over the four floors. Many of the exhibits are brought in at different times so each visit could potentially have something new. Would recommend for families as there are some interactive exhibits that will keep them interested.

Stumbled on this museum almost by accident, and can honestly say it is one of the best we have encountered. It has lots of historical information and is full of interactive displays to spark your interest and keep children interested. During our visit, we noticed one of the staff spending quality time with children. We can more than recommend this to anyone, especially families, and sure you will come away as pleased as us. All the staff were welcoming and friendly and made our visit extra special.

This museum has some of the best interactive displays I have come across in a small museum. It is also kept up to date. There is a panel on covd and the section on slavery - Whitehaven was the 5th most important port in terms of involvement - includes contributions from freed slaves to the abolitionist movement. The classic plan of a slave ship was of a Whitehaven vessel.

There is a floor devoted largely to Sellafield and the Nuclear power industry.

The steer your sailing vessel into harbour should appeal to young gamers, especially if they can bring the ship alongside without crashing into the pier.

Staff at the entrance desk are friendly and although you do have to pay, the prices are reasonable for somewhere you could spend a wet morning without becoming bored. If you didn't know how important Whitehaven was in the tobacco trade before the War of Independence you will after your visit.

There is a pay and display car park and a cafe.

We have had a "Whitehaven Marina walk" and the museum was a part of it. Nice location and good place to learn something about Whitehaven and its history.
They try to make it even more interesting, as "Medieval Medicine" exhibition was a part of it.
