Pleasant place to visit

Visited here on our way home. Interesting attraction - particularly watching the equipment surface mine. Free parking. Nice area for a leisurely walk.

Free attraction

What an original sculpture! Lovely to walk around and climb the mounds. Unfortunately difficult to take good photos. Lots of picnic benches near the lake, but no bins. Cafe on site too. Free parking and electric charging point available.

Great free attraction!

Great free attraction!, we visited whilst staying at the Snowy Owl pub which is walking distance away - great place to explore with kids or walk/run for exercise. Also offers a great view of the working coal mine next door!

A very pleasant walk

First visit to Northumberlandia. Plenty of car parking. Amenities at the start toilets and visitor centre, drinks etc. There's a donation box there as well its free to enter so happy to help by putting a donation in. The lady is only really visible from the air in full but if you climb the mounds you can get some of the effect. We walked around the site and up and down the mounds twice so good exercise with very pleasant scenery. We found a picnic bench beside the lake to have a picnic. There's a little woodland area with what looks like activities for children near the entrance also.

The lady of the North!
jun. de 2021 • Familia
We went there for a walk and also for our child to attend the nature music lessons. The lessons were amazing! The updates for these can be found on the website. The walk was nice... since we had a pushchajr, we did not sttempt climbi g to the top...just went around the whole area on the circumference.

The cafe had amazing hot chocolate drinks! Toilets were clean.. the small area of woods before the sculpted structure was our favourite!!!

Clever piece of art

Carpark & cafe on site. Staff in cafe were lovely but service was very slow. Took about 20 mins to make 2 simple sandwiches. The walk is easy and took about 45 mins to complete. At the start of the walk there is a metal outline of the sculpture with numbers on it. Take a photoshoot of this if you can before your walk as you tend to forget which part of the body you are standing on. From the head of the feature, you have views of the open cast coal mine. The lady has been sculpted very cleverly in the landmark. The area attracts a lot of wildlife - butterflies, bees, nymph's which was lovely to see.

Wonderful artwork

Fascinating place to visit, something for everyone to enjoy for a small donation. It's great that this once industrial site has been turned into a cleverly landscaped artwork where wild flowers and grasses are growing and butterflies and bees can flourish too. There are places to picnic beside the lakes and children can run free and great for dog walks too. I was surprised to see the open colliery works too on the other side, which made you appreciate this wonderful place even more. Children would love to watch the giant excavators hard at work and also enjoy the woodland walks.
