Firstly the cost of getting to Valparasio with Michael at 2pm ETA Santiago of LAN flight from Auckland. Then cost of any touring the next day?
Hi. I just found I should send feedback on V
Santiago to Valparaiso. We went by bus from outside the Airport and changed at the central bus terminal and bought a ticket to Valpo. Was easy. No Spanish necessary. cost about $20 US. At Valparaiso terminal got tourist information which bus to catch to our Hotel up on one of the many hills. A lot cheaper than taxi. Recommended adds to the adventure and no risk. luggage was safe all the way. No wayward taxi drivers taking you somewhere else. Mike
sorry probably too late. cost was all inclusive around $120 PP USD. less than transfers aline.
Thanks for your help Peggy. We will spend two nights in Valpo so looking at a transfer to some Valpo hotel from Santiago then go on tour the next day. How did you manage in a Spanish speaking Country. Apart from Michael did anyone you met speak any English? I travelled in 1975 for a year in a old Volks Kombi so my pigeon Spanish is really non existent. Have to revise a bit. Cheers Mike.
We toured Valparaiso with Michael earlier this year. He picked us up at the Santiago airport in the early morning (around 5:30) and drove us to Valparaiso where we left our bags in his flat (for safety reasons). We then toured until 2:30pm, when we had to be at the ship the check-in. The cost, if I remember correctly, was $100 per person. We checked and the taxi alone for two would have been $80.
We thought the day was excellent value for money and would happily do it again.
That said, if you are meeting an afternoon ship or have some other time constraint, you might find it isn't value for money.
I strongly suggest you contact Michael for a quote. Rules say I can't add a url here, but you can look him up by googling Michael the German Pirate. That's what we did. He answered promptly and we booked straightaway.
