I booked a bunk in a 4 bed dorm on booking.com for $50 a night for 2 nights. I looked where they were located and thanks to google had an idea of where they were located in Rio Serrano valley, they could really invest in a sign or two. I was a bit let down when the pictures of the shiny new building were not where i was staying but the accommodations were still nice. Giselle was the host and extremely polite, helpful and accommodating. It was really warm the few days I was there but cooled down at night, sleeping was fantastic, and we had 3 people in the 4 person bunk area. I didn't plan on spending a bunch of time here, so didn't think the limited electricity, 1-2 hours at night was going to be a big deal , but also there is no wi-fi. The only real issue i found was they don't have a common refrigerator, and restaurants are very expensive in the park. There is a kitchen area, and i brought some cheese and sandwich meat which Giselle was willing to store in a freezer somewhere, but you cant chill a beer for your return from a hike. The views from here are amazing, and you are close to the park, making it easy to beat the crowds in the morning versus those who stay in Puerto Natales, but I don't know how you could stay here without a car. After spending the afternoon in the park, I returned to the hostel to relax and plan my next few days, this is when i realized the electricity and wi-fi were an issue...It's also when i got very well acquainted with the fairly needy of attention white dog. He was adorable, but my legs not a little scratched in his requests for more attention. Loved the views, very affordable, great host, plenty of hot water, but i only ended up staying 1 night in an effort to see more of Patagonia. It's also crazy how late the sun is up here but I was still able to get to bed by 10 and had a great nights sleep.…
Very clean and organised, simple place but with spectacular views of the mountains. Jorge is excellent in making you feel welcome. Do not be put off by the lack of heating in the rooms, it is certainly manageable. There is a restaurant with WiFi just behind the house (1 minute or less walking). Negative points are: a) electricity only for limited hours which is a problem if your room is on the first floor because you cannot use the shower for lack of pressure until 8pm and b) it is expensive for what it offers, but i am afraid this is true for the whole Torres del Paine area. I would go back again anyway.
