Already the landing on Taveuni is spectacular, not to mention the friendly welcome, the beautiful house and the tropical garden. The view is simply unique. The hosts (Sharon and Grant) are very very friendly, they are very helpful with any request, be it rental cars, tips etc.... The delicious breakfast on the terrace is the perfect start to the day. Sharon is a wonderful cook and baker. She baked a delicious birthday cake for us. Housekeeping has always worked wonderfully after consulting with us. We would love to come back anytime and can recommend Vakanananu Retreat 100%.
We had the absolute pleasure of staying at Vakanananu Retreat in the summer of 2019 and every moment of it was glorious. As some of the first guests we really got to witness something so genuine and special come to life in the way of this eco resort and it was something we’d never experienced before! The eco resort is so perfectly remote and private and yet has everything you could ever need. It’s wonderfully spacious and clean with a kitchen equipped for you to cook yourself a real Fijian meal, a bed to die for, a shower with a view over the rainforest and a veranda that I promise you will never want to leave. There is nothing better than reading a book in the hammock chairs with your view of the ocean in the absolute quiet or lighting the candles and watching the sunset over the rainforest while you eat your dinner. This is the perfect paradise and Sharon and Grant are the most welcoming couple that did everything to make our stay relaxing and filled with activity all at once! They helped us find a dive school and gave us the best tips on where to explore! They also provided us with yoga mats to use and even snorkel gear to use at the beautiful coral reefs that are just a 5 minute walk down the hill from their property! We dream, everyday of visiting this place again. Vakanananu Retreat, Taveuni and Moana the dog will forever have our hearts.…
We stayed at Sharon and Grant's place for a week's leave in Taveuni, such a beautiful green garden island, well worth the trip from Suva, despite some recent vegetation damage from Tropical Cyclone Yasa. The cottage is lovely, new and fully self-contained, which is rare to find in Taveuni and a real feature. It is a 10 min walk down the hill to nice snorkelling, restaurant and sunset drink options. The view from the property is amazing and Sharon was extremely helpful linking us up with a local tour guide for a number of hikes, bird watching and waterfall trips. We even managed to find the rare orange dove. Highly recommended.
My husband and I went to Vakanananu for our honeymoon in Taveuni and we couldn't recommend it enough -- it was a magical visit! First of all, the staff were incredible. The daily cleaning is so important since we were often covered in sand and mud from various excursions. We were also able to book a ride to and from the airport, plus a private dinner where the staff went above and beyond to decorate and make it lovely for us. The actual house is impeccable. Everything was perfect. We were even provided a phone and information for local transport. THANK YOU!
My husband and I stayed at Vakanananu retreat for a few days before checking in to a dive resort, and it was hands down the best Airbnb experience we have ever had. The accommodations were just perfect for a party of 2 or 3. Immaculately clean, well suited with everything we needed in the kitchen, a gorgeous shower with excellent water pressure, very comfortable bed, all nestled above the ocean in the tranquility of the jungle, it was just perfect. But the best part was the staff. Sharon and her friendly crew provided an amazing breakfast daily (I still think about those sticky buns!) and housekeeping services, and when I came down with a freak 3 day flu, Sharon took care of me as my mother would have, bringing me ginger lemon honey tea, and medicine to help with my aches and pains. The lovely Fijian staff were so friendly and welcoming with their Bula spirit, we even got a song! Added perk? Moana, the resident pooch, was sure to greet us every time we arrived. The property is sprawling, and beautifully landscaped. Sharon and her husband live on the property as well, but there is plenty of space to feel all alone out there. We fully enjoyed every minute of our stay, including the quiet sunsets, watching the fruit bats head home as each day ended. Our only regret is we didn't stay longer, but will certainly be back to Vakanananu as soon as we can!…
