This hotel should not be recommended not because it is an old hotel (used to be the best in the 70s) but because it is not suitable to receive clients anymore. the reception is run by unqualified persons, the rooms are dirty and need FULL renovation from scratch and the rate is OVERPRICED. the positive thing is that it is well located, it has a nice chimney and it was well heated although the smell of diesel oil was strongly felt.
I believe this hotel should undergo a full renovation as it is not suitable to receive customers even for free. Run by two Syrian gentlemen trying their best to please the customer but in vain. Rooms are not up to the minimum standard in terms of cleanliness. Mold on walls, bathroom door looked like it had never been cleaned. Ancient TV screen not working, Carpets are stained. Bed sheets not been cleaned; we found hair inside as well an undefined insect. To be fair the hotel was well heated but with strong petrol smell. We spend our night in the lobby.
I went for a weekend at the cedars in the north of Lebanon for skiing. I booked at the hotel St Bernard. As soon as I entered the lobby the smell of mazout was very strong. The rooms was horrible, the sheets was dirty and the third bed on the mezzanine was not made and arranged. The walls was not painted and full of mold. The shower in the bathroom was not working. My friend in the other room found a cockroach inside her bed and hairs on her sheets. On top of that the room was was not cheap 110 US dollars. So it is a rip off. I definiitely don’t advise you to book and stay in that hotel.
the hotel had great days back in the 70s and 60s where presidents and world leaders used to come for some relax. the hotel is perfectly situated near to the slope and the cedars forest. lately they renovated the reception and lobby, there is a nice chimney to gather arround in snowy days. the roooms need to be renovated.
