Platinum Elite Bonvoy member here. This location is not good. I was hopeful that this location would uphold the published Marriott "Commitment to Clean" policies during the pandemic. They did not. 1. Was promised "contactless check in" via mobile app and mobile key. This did not happen, and when I questioned the front deck agent, I was told this location doesn’t use mobile keys for the "safety of our guests" as she stood way too close to my face and handed my keys. Not contactless at all. Unacceptable first impression. 2. Upon learning that on-site parking is valet-only, front desk agent told me it was my choice to give the valet my keys or hold on to them. I chose to hold on to them. The valet then approached me, with his mask off and around his chin, and demanded my keys as he stood less than 8 inches from my face. During my stay I repeatedly witnessed this valet standing at the lobby entrance, at the door, with his mask off. 3. The next morning, the valet (mask off again) handed me car. I am furious that an unmasked stranger drove my car. This is unacceptable. From that morning on I parked on the street. There is abundant parking on the street, it will save you $30 per night, and you won’t have an irresponsible Marriott employee putting you and your family at risk. But make sure you check your final bill, because I was charged valet for nights I parked on the street. 4. The hotel has signs up requiring masks, but doesn't enforce the rule among its own employees. More guests used them than employees. 5. There was no hand sanitizer in my room, as guaranteed though Marriott's "commitment to clean" policy: "And we will be placing disinfecting wipes in each room for your use." The wipes would have useful the morning I picked up my car from the mask-refusing valet. 6. The hotel itself is new, but looks basic and is about the level of an entry-level chain (most Residence Inns I've stayed at are far superior). The kitchen is tiny and living spaces are tiny. The materials and supplies, from the countertops to the silverware to the towels, are cheap. I heard my neighbors every night and morning, and I was wakened by a machine on the roof that I assume was an industrial air conditioning unit. The worst part is that it goes on and off every 20 seconds all morning. Really, avoid this place. There are much nicer hotels in Walnut Creek in the same price range with apartment-style accommodations. If you must stay there, don't let them swindle you into valet parking - there is plenty of street parking. Bring your own sanitizing wipes and ear plugs. And don't get close to the employees - they aren't taking their own safety rules seriously.…
Stayed for three days at 4 star hotel. Just opened with limited staff because of coronavirus. Requested upgrade to 1 bedroom suite from studio suite. It was not available. As a titanium member, was very disappointed not being upgraded because hotel was not half full.
This is a newly opened Marriott Residence Inn so it has the feel of a new hotel, including some of the staff showing signs that they are new to the job. But very courteous and accommodating. Marriott seems to offer a variety of different types of accommodation and I am learning that Residence Inn offer condo-type feeling which works best for families traveling. This particular hotel also allows pets.
I recently stayed at this location. It’s a very nice hotel and very quite. The rooms were nice and clean. Quin front desk guy was very helpful. Forgot the valet person name he was very helpful too. Thank you definitely be back at this hotel.
Our family was very pleased with the hotel. Well appointed rooms to accommodate an extended stay with all the comforts of home. Rooms are smart and modern providing an excellent use of space. Service is impeccable, valet prompt, front desk friendly and helpful. Full breakfast included every morning. Social hour was an extra plus that included light bites, drinks including wine and beer. Our dog was pleasantly welcome. Great location in walking distance to BART, shopping, parks and restaurants. The Marriott Residence Inn is located in the heart of quaint, hip, family friendly Walnut Creek. Thank you for an excellent stay.
