Puedo ent

Respuesta de MitiMiwiri, Inhaber de Miti Miwiri Guest House
Respondida el 19 de ene. de 2018
Hello Alessandra P. and Cèsar Guia! A very long time ago I had to respond to such a comment on TripAdvisor but in your case it is not only a must as well a pleasure for me to give the true version of what was really happening during those 5 days staring on the 31st of December. In fact I was only waiting for your comment. Unfortunately it is not rational but very personal! If I recall well you called me a few days in advance asking me if I can arrange a more budget private transfer from Pemba to Ibo… As you understand Portuguese I gave you the number of a local taxi driver in order to help you to safe some Meticais. You did arrive well and settled in the room. The room you did actually reserve on “booking.com” is a room called “Isabela”. A downstairs room facing the front… In my opinion an excellent room but not one of our best rooms. Knowing that, I put you up in a large triple room with private veranda not even mentioning that when handing over the room key to you. We at Miti Miwiri are the only hotel over the last 5 or more years organizing a proper party for New Years with a large seafood buffet created by my wife “Maezinha” (she is born on Ibo island and knows the local cuisine at it's best!). In the meantime everybody had started to eat as much from the buffet as wanted and people from other lodges came in for the celebrations… Getting closer to midnight and busier by the minute you started complaining about the music not been “party” enough. I could have being offended but knowing music better than the most I actually enjoyed your comment and let you behind the bar to put up some of your beats. I in fact liked it and in my opinion it was fitting well to the general vibe at this time of the evening. I am sure if you would had continued without others interfering you would have been one of our happiest guests ever stayed with us! But it all came a little different… I know for sure that you got offended about some funny comments made of others in my bar about your beard and finally your music. But hey, we are talking about having party and fun together on the last day of 2017. Unfortunately from that moment on the relationship between us got poisoned Cèsar! It is a tradition since centuries on Ibo island to have a swim in the ocean in the very first hours of the new year to clean up the sins of the past year and carried away with the outgoing tide. Me, as part of the community practice this ritual ever since I life on Ibo (more than 10 years already) and so does my local staff. So on one day of the year, the 01st of January I am not the one opening the hotel at 06:30 as usual and yes, my staff arrived delayed after cleaning up the buffet at 03:30am. This is for most people understandable. After complaining heavily during the whole day about not having a dry towel – plus it was rainy and towels dry not very fast in humid climate – my wife Maezinha arrived crying home and send me to Miti Miwiri to find any solution of this situation. You certainly can remember that I sent someone to buy two new towels in a local shop and even offered those towels to you as a part of my apologize. Just one more word about the buffet… We had 40 persons booked for it and 38 were absolutely happy about it. Also ourselves had from it and beside of a hangover from the party we were all perfectly fine! Unfortunately I have to write here as well about the excursion to Quirmiba island, one of the activity highlights in the surrounding of Ibo island. Once again everybody coming back from the tour were super happy and had spend a fantastic day. Only you – again – complained about the price! Mohamed the tour guide, not working on any contract for me but as a total freelancer lives and feeds his entire family form those very short peak seasons on Ibo. I know him for years and can tell that he is THE BEST guide around for those kind of activities. He did charge per person 1.200Mtn. Which corresponds to 20USD per person for the his guiding PLUS the boat transfer back to Ibo PLUS the lunch on the beach on Quirimba island. Normally the price is 1.500Mtn. per person but I did ask him to make a discount as you were a larger group. Now, you totally unhappy because you would have loved to pay 2 USD less! Would you behave the same in Spain? Or is it that Africans don't deserve respect from Europeans? You spend 2.000USD for an airplane from Europe to here but not willing not support a local guide which led you to this beautiful island! By the way he got from most of the others an extra tip for his great services on this day. Next. This “local guide” you were dealing with and trusted so much is called Mahando. He is a notorious thief and not allowed to step into any hotels on the island. Somehow he sneaked himself into Miti Miwiri on the 31st when the party was going on, abusing the fact that I was very busy and lost the overview. He obviously presented himself as the official tour guide of the hotel and you felt into his trap. The following days he was regularly inside my hotel and I did not sent him out only because of respect of you!!! I had always a bad feeling and controlled him all the time. The activity to Roals island he arranged for you (and for some of my other guests – please feel free and check their comments) was a disaster. But again, you wanted to have as much people in this rotten boat just to save some Dollars. The tours arranged by us cost a little more, yes - but I guarantee for safety. Good boat, no leaks, good engine, life jackets, etc. I do agree on one point with you. Benjamin is a good guy and I also use him regularly as a tour guide. He always is my second choice if Mohamed is not available. And yes, his local restaurant isn't bad at all! Last but not least I would love put a picture of myself here but this is technically not possible. I am German, green-blue eyes and blond hair without any Indian influence. No idea what you are talking about in the last sentences. Guess you got carried away… Anyway thank you for giving me the chance to put this straight and into context. Please try next time - wherever you might go - not to take things personal. Nobody is against you!
