I stayed at this Inn while in New Orleans on Business. It is small inn with only three rooms but it was recently renovation with fanticstic rooms. My company rented all three suits including the Creole Balcon suite which gave us large room to meet in each day after our convention. The decor and bathrooms are very nice and two of the suits have fully stocked kitchens. We usally stay at the Marriott downtown but I think this will be the palce we will stay when we reurn to New Orleans.
We stayed at the American Creole House October - December, 2005 after Katrina. My company rented all three suites for our restoration crews. The hotel a very minor damage after the storm and the owner flew in three weeks later and was able to get electricity and water on very quickly. By the time we moved in October 5th, the Internet and phones were up and running. The suites all have kitchens and kitchenettes and are well decorated and maintained. The property is considered "Corporate Suites" but they provide daily maid service (Thanks Rosalind!) and operate like a hotel. Check in is in the Travel Agency below the suites. The location on St. Charles Avenue is excellent and is near quite a few restaurants and shopping. The French Quarter is 11 blocks away and the Convention Center is 5 blocks. f you want New Orleans charm, reasonable rates and a great location, the American Creole House is a great choice. …
The first thing that still comes to mind here, is that this hotel is located within/behind a travel agency. So when you showup and are trying to find the place...it IS that travel agency on the corner. The second thing is, it is only technically located in the Garden District. Howver this isn't a bad thing at all! The hotel is the most conviently located hotel I have ever stayed in actually! The room was smaller than one might think from a place that has "suite" in the name. However, we did stay in the smallest room, and upon glancing at the others they looked HUGE! The room was very nively furnished and the most lovely bed i have ever slept in. It was soooo comfy. The hotel was nice, quite and really unique due to the setting and the setup. I would totally reccomend this place to anyone who wanted a peaceful and comfy place to stay. The staff we're very friendly, however I still can't figure out that phone system! I wouldn't reccomend it to any party people or people who need to be where the action is at. However the action is only a short street car ride away, and who could't love that streetcar? …
We have stayed at the american creole house in New Orleans several time over the last couple of years. This is a great hotel in a great location. Although small (3 suites) the property has everthing you need. These are beautiful suites with kitchens. The property is located on St. Charles avenue on top of an 1852 Creole Townhouse 1 block from Lee Circle. The rooms are modern with great furnishings yet still hold the charm from a bygone era. I reccommend the Creole Balcony Suite with a Living Room, Separate Bedroom and Full Kitchen. The balcony looks over St. Charles Avenue and its great to sit outside and watch the streetcar go by. We had daily maid service and high speed Internet service for free.
