Amazing Experience!
Stayed here with 11 of my friends at the end of October. Being quite young (18), we weren’t sure whether it was something we’d enjoy but we were definitely wrong! Teresa, who we met upon arrival, was lovely and very welcoming to us all. The views from the barn were mesmerising, especially at sunset and sunrise and the barn itself was perfect. If you’re looking to get back to nature and spend a night around the fire drinking hot chocolate with you’re friends/family then I highly recommend Alstonefield Camping Barn. We, as a group of 18 year olds, would love to return here again in the future!
P.S it gets very cold upstairs at nighttime so wrap up warm! :)

Camping barn
Fab barn, extended the time we can camp with kids, who still loved being able to get sleeping bags and torch’s out. Peaceful location so there was excellent star gazing. Log burner a bonus- kept us very warm. We hope to stay again soon.

Great weekend retreat
We took 7 11y old boys for the weekend. They had a wonderful time. The barn is nice and secluded and they had fun exploring the surrounding fields. Made a fire outside and toasted marshmallows on Friday night. Walked part of the Manifold way on Saturday. The weather was dreadful for June, so the wood fir inside is a great plus point. Helped to warm water and dry wet socks! Take enough firewood!
The barn was spotlessly clean and Teresa very helpful. The boys enjoyed their trip tremendously.

A perfect little barn for outdoor adventures
The barn is located in a prime position in the Peak District. There's paddle sports 25 minutes away at Tittesworth Water, rock climbing at Harborough Rocks 20 minutes away and loads of fantastic walks by foot or bus (we went up to Shutlingsloe which was a lovely climb). It's also about 25 minutes to Bakewell for doing your shopping and buying a bakewell tart!
The barn itself, is as it says - a 'basic' camping barn, but it's PERFECT for getting back to 'nature'! We took 12 x 12-year old students who slept on the first floor (it is just a board floor), and 4 adults who slept outside behind the barn in tents (arranged with the owner). As you enter the barn downstairs there's a main room with a sink & work surface, 2 benches which seated most of us, and a log burner which keeps the barn warm. There's another small room in the back with a single toilet and a sink.
There's not many windows so we'd suggest you bring lots of torches and battery lights, especially when it starts to get dark it feels natural to go for the light switch which isn't there as there's no electricity. The water pressure is very good.
Around the barn there's a lovely shingled parking area with enough space to park two minibuses off of the farm track and still have a fire in the fire pit (supplied in the barn). The barn is set in a massive field in the middle of nowhere. The only other house is a little way down the track, but we were far enough away that our students couldn't be heard when they woke up at 5am! At the end of the farm track there's a nice open-access hill which is great for night time games or exploring more areas if you're happy with sheep!
The owner, Teresa, is very accommodating and friendly, and goes above and beyond to help. Thank you!
We'll definitely be back in the future!

Wonderful barn
We went for a family gathering over Easter with kids and had a fantastic time. The barn is surrounded by beautiful green rounded hills, and is ideally situated to explore the local area.It is basic but we had a fantastic time which ended in Teresa's farm, where we saw a sheep giving birth to two little lambs!

Great location, lovely stay
The communication was excellent, we knew exactly what to expect and where to go. The barn is a great space for families, we were 4 adults and 6 kids. The bedroom is spacious and lots of room for belongings, the wood burner is amazing and provided lots of warmth, there were loads of tea light holders for light. The kids loved being so close to lambs in the field and there was plenty to do in the surrounding areas. Very much recommend.

Perfect place for small DofE groups
Lovely location in the Peak District and beautiful stone building, with gorgeous log burner - which heated the whole room. The building was ideal for our small silver DofE group who spent their final expedition night there. Teresa was fantastic with the booking process, very informative and made everything very easy. Would happily stay again.

Fabulous little Barn
We had a wonderful evening in the barn. We were well prepared for it being basic. Brought plenty of Logs, Lights and blankets.
It was perfect location for our walk round Dovedale.

The Perfect Escape
My friends and I had a wonderful stay at Alstonefield Camping Barn. We enjoyed being off grid, and were lucky with a perfect weekend of weather to enjoy the beautiful Peak District.
