Amazing place to stay

Absolutely amazing place to stay, amazing hosts, brilliant location, exceptionally clean, just perfect. A beautiful gite, very nicely decorated, spacious and with absolutely everything needed for a comfortable stay. The two bedroom gite is fully equipped with absolutely everything you could ever need and tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean, whilst retaining some original features. Loved the shutters and the stunning original sink from when the house was originally built. There is a lovely covered terrace, perfect for Al fresco dining in perfect tranquility. And for those arriving by car, there is also a covered carport for your exclusive use. All set in a very large beautiful garden. The location is perfect too. Only a few minutes drive away from the airport, local shops ( which consists of a small supermarket, butchers, a tobacconist, bar and pharmacy) only a two minute walk away. This is where you will find the local transport links, which are very reliable and as frequent as every ten minutes. These links will take you to wherever you wish to explore, we used these to visit the coast, local markets, Pessac Centre (with absolutely everything you need, authentic markets, shops, cafes, restaurants and bars) and the beautiful Bordeaux. Not to forget the beautiful Châteaus with their wine tastings too ( you can't visit Bordeaux without trying at least one of these) The hosts Valérie and her lovely family were absolutely amazing and so very welcoming, a real pleasure to have met them. Valérie was always on hand to make your stay as perfect as possible, she was in touch before we left on our honeymoon, sending us all the information needed for us to make our arrival go without any worries. ( we were even able to plan some adventures before we arrived) Valérie greeted us on arrival, went through everything and even provided maps and highlighted attractions and exactly what bus, tram or train needed to get there and back. We couldn't wish for anything else, so helpful. We loved it so much that we are returning next year for our first wedding anniversary.

Believe the reviews. Great place, great location with lovely owners!

Travelled during the freak heatwave. Despite no air con, the gite was lovely and cool. Ourselves and our 3 year old son slept very comfortably. The gite itself is well stocked and has a lovely seated area overlooking the garden. Lovely for morning coffee or evening glass of wine! Valérie and her family are lovely and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and to ensure we made the most of our week long trip. We had a lovely welcome met by fresh baguette and jams with some homemade bakes traditional to the area. Public transport and local shops are within easy reach so you don’t need to hire a car. We did however as we enjoy having a car. Beware if you do however as the roads are very busy at times. Again, Valerie helped tell us best times to travel which was really helpful. If you visit, we would recommend the Dune du Pilat (tallest sand dune in Europe). A spectacular view which is well worth the steps to the top. Our 3 year old loved rolling down it on the other side! Arcachon is also lovely to visit. Beautiful beaches with nice restaurants. Bordeaux is also a lovely city. Our 3 year old loved getting his feet wet in the “water mirror” on a particularly hot day. A welcome relief from the heat for all!

Beautiful house complimented by extraordinary hosts

From the moment we made enquires about this gite, which is attached to an amazing 18th century house, we received warm and informative emails. Valerie and Jean Luc’s wonderful hospitality, and their two beautiful children make for a wonderful and unforgettable stay. We really enjoyed our fun chats, and Valerie gave us some very good tips, even booking a restaurant for us. The gite is comfortable and well equipped - extremely comfortable bed. Whole place impeccably clean. You do really need a car, and the property is conveniently located within 50 mins drive of the picturesque beach town of Arcachon, and about 40 mins away from Bordeaux by tram. Bordeaux is really well worth a visit, t has spectacular architecture. If you are going to Bordeaux. Thank you both for everything and for the lovely home baking.

Visiting Bordeaux? Here’s where to stay.

If you are planning to visit the Bordeaux region, search no more - here’s where to stay. La clos de la treille is an impeccably clean’ well-equipped cottage-style gite attached to a grand ex-hunting lodge. Surtrounded by a large, pleasant garden the gite as a large covered terrace and off-street parking in a private car-port. Valerie, Jean-luc ( plus their two children) are the ultimate hosts. Friendly, welcoming, full of local knowledge and perfectly bi-lingual (French/ English). The large, comfortable double bedroom has plenty storage and second bedroom containing two bunk beds is perfect for children. There is a good quality pull down double sofa- bed in the sitting room. A spacious Italian shower- room is offered as well as a well equipoed kitchen. French and English TV is offered and there is a BBQ available in the garden. Public transport is close at hand with frequent buses to central Bordeaux ( the route also links with the Tramway) and Pessac has a rallway station. Local shops are in walking distance as is a great bakery for morning baguette and croissants. The sea is a 45 minute drive away at the wonderful Bay of Arcachon - a must visit for lovers of oysters and the wine Chateaux of the region are easily accessible by road. My wife and I spent an extended visit at ‘le Clos’ while house-hunting in the region. We can thoroughly recommend renting this gite. You will not be disappointed.

Comfort and cosseting

Valerie and Jean-Luc’s gite is exceptional. Fully equipped with all home comforts and a wealth of information in both English and French about the gite, the local area and how to get about. Access to Bordeaux only a 45 minute bus ride. Even the car has its own private sun shaded area. Valerie and Jean-Luc are fluent English speakers. They are very welcoming and Valerie spoils her guests with her home baking and local wines.

Gîte très spacieux et très bien équipé

Gîte très spacieux et très bien équipé à la propreté irréprochable. Idéalement placé pour aller visiter Bordeaux (tram et bus à proximité), tout en ayant un brin de campagne grâce au magnifique jardin calme et arboré. Je recommande.

Wonderful stay!

We very much enjoyed our stay in the gite and especially meeting Valerie, Jean Luc and their family. The gite is very well equipped in a very quite neighbourhood. Very easy public transport in to Bordeaux. We found it an ideal base for exploring the surrounding areas. Valerie offered excellent recommendations for places to visit. We would thoroughly recommend a stay at this gite.

Good location and extremely helpful owners.

The location of the house enables easy access to Bordeaux via public transport. Valérie and Jean-Luc made our stay really enjoyable by providing local knowledge of the surrounding area. They are both fluent English speakers and their hospitality was second to none. Thoroughly recommended.

Lovely accommodation, lovely hosts

We wanted a comfortable base near Bordeaux for a week that would be convenient for car travels to the surrounding area, and public transportation into Bordeaux. We got that and so much more! The apartment is one of the most comfortable and well-supplied of any we have rented around the world. It came with an abundance of kitchen and bath amenities, and thoughtful and delicious meal ingredients when we arrived on a Sunday when the grocery stores are closed. The terrace was lovely on warm afternoons when we returned tired from sightseeing. We made good use of the washer/dryer and the dishwasher. Valerie and Jean-Luc were extremely hospitable, and helpful with every travel detail from the moment we booked. The apartment is stocked with every travel book and pamphlet you could ever want for the area, and Valerie is the best resource of all. We absolutely loved Bordeaux and the surrounding wine country and coast, and Le Clos de la Treille was a perfect location for all our explorations.

Súper agradable y muy muy recomendable

Estuvimos 4 días en Le clos y ¡pensamos en repetir! La casa es muy acogedora, con estilo y con todo tipo de facilidades. El jardín es enorme y muy bien cuidado ¡Perfecto para familias! La casa está cerca de Burdeos (30 minutos en coche) y hay supermercados a pie.Valerie fue muy atenta con nosotras y sus hijos son muy simpáticos :)
