The place was nice but starting to show some wear. I assume this is typical for most beach locations. View is absolutely beautiful. Several things renters should know are there are two showers upstairs but one is barely usable due to the very low water pressure. We ended up all using the one master shower. There is also no front door key so we couldn't lock the house when we left but there is a lock box for your personal items. That didn't bother us so much but there was also was a door with a broken lock and couldn't secure it(different door), even when sleeping at night. Even though they stressed how safe the area was, I was not comfortable with the house being unlocked with my family sleeping. I contacted them and they said they would contact the management company but no one ever showed to resolve this problem (stayed another 5 nights after contact). Only area air conditioned areas are the two bedrooms upstairs. The air conditioners are rather small and had a hard time keeping it cool and many nights it was quite warm (76) while sleeping. We closed the bedroom doors and by morning it would get down to 73. No air conditioner downstairs but you can open all doors and get a wonderful cross breeze most of the time. All in all it is a nice house and suited our needs well.

First time on the island. Loved the location. Near great beaches on the east side of island. Great food spots nearby like Skinny Legs and Salty Mongoose. Beautiful sunrises each morning across Coral Bay. The pool was a nice treat at the end of long hiking/beach days. The owners were easy to talk to and had great advice for making the most of our trip. We'd definitely stay again.

The property was fantastic! Great place for a couple getting away from it all to relax. The location is very private and quiet. The views are great and the porch is an awesome place to relax and unwind and take in all of the views. We enjoyed breakfast and evening cocktails from the porch. The house was well equipped and clean. The pool was a an added bonus in the morning and in the afternoon after the beach. Overall we would definitely stay here again and look forward to doing so in the future. Mike was really thorough in making sure we were briefed on the property before our arrival and took the time to make sure that we were happy with everything once we arrived. We were able to have a wonderful trip and relax!!

We loved the house and property and communication with the owners was very good and organized. Overall a great stay !(even with that winding, steep road up to the place - you will get used to it! :-) )

This property was perfect for our family vacation! Coral Bay is definitely the quiet side of the island which was perfect. Still close to beaches and hikes but away from the busy Cruz Bay. The views from the house were beautiful and there was always a breeze. Perfect!

Beautiful week on the quiet side of St. John! Sunrises from the deck were spectacular. Scenic drive to all the beaches. We will be back!

We just returned from a week of absolute perfection on St. John. It was our first visit to the island and we found Rhumb Runners to be the perfect home base for our family of four. We were happy to be on the quiet end of the island and its location in Coral Bay is convenient to restaurants and grocery stores. Rhumb Runners is clean and well cared for. It is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including 4 beach chairs, beach towels and cooler. We enjoyed starting and ending each day on the deck. The photos don't do the views justice. Absolutely gorgeous.

We loved Rhumb Runners! The house has stunning views of Coral Bay and the surrounding islands. All was clean, comfortable, in working order, well-equipped, and more than appropriate for our family of three. The owners were kind, informative, and responsible. The house gets good breezes and there are also fans - there is ac, but we didn't need it. The house and pool receive excellent morning sun. We typically spent a few hours there each morning before heading out for a days' excursion. The kitchen was well equipped. Towels and linens were clean and in good condition. There is direct tv, but we never so much as turned it on. A couple of things to note: The driveway is steep but manageable, so do have a 4-wheel drive vehicle and be not afraid. Also, you will have to buy drinking water, which is going to mean plastic, and there's currently no recycling on the island. This was a bit of a sore point for me as we came to enjoy nature and I felt that we were harming it even as we enjoyed ourselves.. Plan ahead if you can and bring collapsible bottles to fill at the only refilling stations, which are in Cruz Bay. All told, we would highly recommend this property and hope to return :)
