We stayed in the Tortuga Suite for 3 nights, and couldn't have been happier with the place, amenities and service. Tortuga Suite is spacious and yet private, being on the lower level of a gorgeous, multi-terraced garden.
The suite had a comfortable queen bed with warm blankets for the cold Feb night (around 45F), a seating area, a desk by the window, a sizable kitchen with a dining area. There were gas stove top, toaster oven, drinking water, coffee, tea, basic spices - plenty of cookware and tableware to make, if you want to cook during your vacation. The fridge had a few welcome bread, cheeses, beer, yogurt and muesli!
The bathroom was clean and big. The water heater worked fine and we had plenty of hot water for two people to shower.
The laundry service was only on certain days for each suite in Wantarra, so check with Wolfgang or Andi to make sure you get your clean clothes back in time for your departure. We didn't have any problem with ours.
There are common areas in the garden to meet other travelers, grill out or share a meal. Even though there's another suite directly above us, we only heard footsteps and muffled conversations - it's quiet in here. The peaceful garden was perfect to come back to after a day of exploring Quito, especially in the beginning while we were still acclimating. We just sat outside and read in the beautiful weather. We could hardly hear the Old Town bustling outside the gate.
Sitting on the porch of Tortuga Suite, we had a clear view of El Panecillo and La Virgen de Quito statue. We hiked up the hill a couple days later, after acclimating to the altitude.
We highly recommend a stay in the Tortuga Suite.
