My boyfriend and I wanted a quiet getaway and we found it. When we got their Louise and James greeted us with open arms, Louise showed us the cottage which had a card and a bottle of wine for my birthday, which was so thoughtful. We originally rented the cottage for 4 days but stayed for 5, we didn’t want to leave. The cottage was everything we dreamed of, so spacious and very clean. Other then food and clothes you don’t need to bring anything, it’s got more then we ever needed and some. We enjoyed using the canoe and the kayak’s and sitting on the doc first thing in the morning having our coffee. We will be defiantly returning next year. Thank you for a memorable 5 days…

The property was beautiful. Surrounded by nature, and the hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. They gave all kinds of advice on local sights to see and responded to any questions very quickly. Overall our stay was wonderful!

Endroit rustique mais très propre et bien rénové. Lac et forêt fabuleux, le tout à 5 minutes de Bancroft. Hôtes très accueillants, amicaux et respectueux. J'y retournerais sans hésiter!!!

We enjoyed our stay very much! The owners are very nice. Life jackets, kayaks and canoe were available for us to enjoy. The distance of water to the cabin was not exactly as the pictures made it seem. The lake was very private and we had the whole lake to ourselves for most of our stay

Our stay at this beautiful property outside Bancroft was the perfect family getaway. The owners, James and Louise, live on the property and were the perfect hosts. They were welcoming and accommodating, giving us access to all the benefits of their lakeside property - including access to kayaks and a canoe, two docks, and water toys for our kids. They went above and beyond to host our family (and dog!), leaving a bin of toys from their own grandkids in the rental unit for our young ones to play with. The unit itself was cozy and immaculately clean. We were delighted when we arrived to learn that it runs on solar power! And as a sign on the wall reminded us - there's no wifi, so talk to one another! There was plenty of space in the two bedrooms, kitchen, and sitting room, and the furnishings were comfortable. A short drive into Bancroft meant that we didn't need to haul groceries from home, instead choosing to stock up when we got there. Our stay on a peaceful, private lake in the Kawarthas with James and Louise was everything our family was hoping for this summer, and we will certainly be back!

Wonderful weekend getaway on a beautiful quiet lake. Our hosts were amazing and even the weather cooperated. Trails, wildlife, swimming, canoeing and kayaking. A peaceful paradise!

Booked the cottage for a few days away. It was wonderful in all aspects. Bancroft is a nice little town. The cottage was basically a house !!! Well equipped for the different levels of weather ( we did have a solid 36 hour rain day). The Birch cottage was very modern but still gave you the in the woods feel. Went hiking for a bit, swimming in the lake and a lot of reading on the dock.. The hosts were your cottage neighbour and made everything very easy for us and accessible if needed! We hope to be able to get back. Would recommend!!
