This beautiful place is close to the pools, the beach and the restaurant and also a quick drive to more amenities in town. The owners are very accommodating and the space was clean and open.

I joined three girlfriends for a getaway week in Costa Rica. Villa Toucan at Bahia Pez Vela was just perfect! The villa is large, clean and comfortable, and we started every morning with coffee in the secluded garden listening to the birds and monkeys. A three minute walk away, there are three pools attached to each other, including a lovely shallow children's pool. The black sand beach is right there too and we swam, explored, snorkeled and rented kayaks to enjoy an especially nice sunset at sea. We also indulged in massages on the beach. There is also a remarkably good and sophisticated on-site poolside restaurant/bar, Maracuya, that kept us happy with snacks, drinks and meals to our heart's content- although we took advantage of the villa's kitchen to cook at home too. Apparently Maracuya has frequent visitors from other resorts because the food is so good. Bahia Pez Vela is terrifically located- a short and interesting half hour from the Liberia airport meant easy in and easy out, with friends able to come and go on their individual schedules. . Town with other restaurants and stores is 15 minutes away and great fun There are many day trips, including zip lining, hiking and mud spas within striking distance as well. We enjoyed a happy week, a balance of activity and relaxation. We left with more exploring to do and great hopes of returning again.

Wonderful vacation in a beautiful spot off the beaten path. Very close to town when you need groceries, to eat out etc but no reason to leave the resort.....2 pools,beautiful views, kayaks/paddle boards available, wonderful restaurant on site for lunch and dinner. Villas are spacious and well equipped with everything you need.

Our Costa Rica trip was wonderful! We all had lots of fun and the villa was perfect for us. The villa is only a short drive away from several eco-adventure activities and the onsite amenities were perfect the more lazy days.

We loved our 4 nights in this condo. it is 2 minutes down the hill to a gorgeous, SOFT black sand beach. The swimming and snorkeling is very fine, and a little protected from the usual pounding of the Pacific facing Northwest. The bedrooms are fine, with a balcony to enjoy the morning or evening off the master suite. No reason to turn on the TV. Decor is not high end, but that is not why we were there. The owners were VERY helpful in information regarding directions, hints, ideas. The office staff set up a wonderful massage from my wife and I during the rainy morning under the cover of the restaurant by the beach (imagine howler monkeys and crashing surf in the background. Admittedly, the place was empty in the lowest of the low season, and many restaurants in town were closed. Even in the rainy season, we had sun at least part of every day. Very green, saw some parakeets, other gorgeous birds and hear a lot of monkeys. Sounds like it looks more like coastal Cali in the dry season. The surrounding view is stunning, photos do not do it justice. The drive to the local town nearby is ... interesting... with a typical Tico neighborhood, winding, tiny roads filled with happy families. About 10 minutes away, great restaurants (tripadvisor!) and stores. if you like a quiet beach, this is just right.

We loved this place we rented for a week with our girls and grandparents peaceful, nice super comfortable 3 Bd. We will be back!! Snorkeling, boat rental a lot of beaches close, definitely a place to remember!!

Villa Tucan is a comfortable 3B condo situated on an easy-going, relaxing resort (Bahia Pez Vela) of approximately 30 villas. Some of the villas are near the beach and some are in the hills above. This one is closer to the beachfront--a two minute walk. The resort is very quiet, peaceful and low-key. It also has its own security gate and a wonderful staff to meet your every need (e.g., they will set up massages on the beach, which I recommend). The villa is perfect for families (one of the bedrooms has three twins in it, while the master BR has an en suite bathroom and balcony with a beautiful view) or a group of friends (the three bedrooms comfortably fit 6-7 people and there are 2.5 baths). There's a full fridge and a washer-dryer, which I didn't think we would need, but it was definitely very helpful with all our wet towels. With tile floors and air conditioning and fans throughout the condo, we also stayed nice and cool. The kitchen, living room and dining room are on the lower floor, the middle floor has a half bath and entry and the top floor has three bedrooms and two baths. The resort is well-manicured with beautiful foliage, birds, reptiles and raccoons at your front door. The black-sand beach is private, quiet, and perfect for snorkeling or evening walks. You can also hike into the hills, into town and to nearby restaurants. The common areas (infinity pool, game room, restaurant, bar) are very pretty and the staff, friendly and accommodating. It was very convenient to keep a bar tab throughout our stay. The food at the restaurant is excellent - don't skip it!- as are the guavitos and bar drinks. I especially recommend the tuna tartare at the restaurant. I highly recommend Villa Tucan and Pez Vela Resort as a place to relax as well as a convenient jumping off point for day trips into town or for canopy tours (tubing, zip-lines, horseback riding). It's great for first-time visitors to Costa Rica and seasoned travelers alike.

I stayed at Villa Tucan for 5 nights on a girls getaway. It is a spacious 3 bedroom condo that is very close to the beach, pool and on site restaurant. The kitchen was well equipped, everything was clean and the decorations were cheerful. There is also plenty to do nearby. The condo is in a development called Playa Pez Vela which is in its own beautiful cove. The snorkeling from the beach is fantastic and at low tide one can walk on the rocks and tide pools to the next cove over (Playa Ocotal). The waves in the black sand cove are small and it is a great place to swim. Of course, the pool was refreshing and beautiful. We took a number of walks from the Villa where we saw Howler monkeys, colorful birds, scuttling crabs, iguanas and the biggest toad ever. The staff at the Playa Pez Vela was really helpful and responded immediately when we had an issue. The owners, Henry and Liz, are friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this place as a base for travelling in this part of Costa Rica.

We would definitely come back to Vahia Pez Vela and villa toucan. The house is very comfortable and very close to the pool and the beautiful black sand beach. We were excitedly to be able to go snorkeling just off the beach.

We loved our stay at Villa Toucan this past week! It was a mom's week for the 5 of us and we had a great time. The Villa is in a great location with lots of amenities on the property and nearby. The beach is gorgeous and the condo spacious, nice, and very clean. There was plenty of room for us all. We stayed close to the condo at the pool and beach, but also ventured off for adventures nearby. The owners are great and very responsive.
